Narration generated using ElevenLabs.io text-to-speech
Hi Kenneth,
This was a unique, dark noir video that told the story of the protagonist fighting back against what I presume is crime in the streets of their city. The black and white imagery went well with the tone of the music and voiceover. The gradual increase in the pacing of the image changes, then slowing down with the paper crumple sound effect, gave a solid variation in imagery to keep the viewer’s attention. While many of the images gave more of an interpretation of the narration, I was actually drawn to the paper crumple mixed with the sound effect — it was a good break in the music and narration. The flashes with the photographer in the beginning threw me off a little, with the timing being on the offbeats of the music, and I noticed several transitions did not hit quite on the beat, particularly in the sections that flashed by more quickly, but I think with the noir-esque aspect of this short video, it did not affect the quality.
Hi Kenneth,
The storyline was very interesting. It wasn’t set to a song, but a narrative with background music. The images and sound effects matched the story.
I agree with Kristi that while there were a few parts slightly off beat, it didn’t affect the quality of the video. I watched your video on mute to see if the images could stand alone without the narrative. It still worked pretty well, but I feel that the narrative was the central point of your video instead of the images.
Hi Kenneth!
This was a great creative take on the assignment, I agree with Krisiti that it is reminiscent of dark noir. The black and white images paired with the mysterious voiceover, and tension built by the pacing of the music, really drew me in. It feels almost like a preview to a longer film I would love to see. Also, great use of sound effects. The city sounds at the start help to bring viewers into the scene. My favorite part was the cuts matching up with the camera shutter sounds, as it adds both visual and auditory interest. It is cool how the only words we see is the title of the video.
