The Daily Pour

“The Daily Pour Podcast” AI Image generated using the prompt “Create cover art for The Daily Pour Podcast: doodle vibes of a cozy cafe on a sunshiny day with two people talking on beanbags and a barista pouring a cup of coffee.” by ChatGPT, February 2026.

The Daily Pour Podcast is a cozy internet corner dedicated to all things coffee. From history to culture to geography, the podcast explores the world of coffee one delicious pour at a time. I opened the podcast with some calm, jazzy background music and the sound effect of coffee beans being poured into a grinder. After establishing the relaxed mood, I added in quiet yet observable background chatter to set the ambience a couple of seconds before I began narrating. I wanted the podcast to feel like a cozy conversation with friends in a laid-back, cafe setting.

Music has always been important to me, so when I needed an idea for a podcast, I thought, “Of course it’s going to be about music.” I’ve been reclaiming my goth roots lately, so I felt that would be a good start. In this podcast, we’ll discuss major events in the goth scene, the historical events, and the history of the movement (post-punk origins from 78/79), and of course, the music.

The name Dead Air is from a broadcasting term for an unintentional period of silence, but also plays into the gothic themes of death and the dead. The Static at the beginning of the clip is meant to emphasize this. Then chimes in the haunting cellos, again playing into the horror themes. In the background, the ambient wind howls to give it the final touch.

Fireside Fantasies is a cozy fantasy storytime for adults. The theme of this podcast is cozy and relaxing, intended to help the listener wind down for the evening. A weekly program, Fireside Fantasies, will read books from new and established cozy fantasy authors, including unpublished or original works.

The episode begins with low, relaxing guitar music. A few seconds in, you hear the narrator enter the room through a squeaky old door, and then pick up the sound of the fire in the fireplace. As the voiceover begins, you notice both the guitar piece and the fire slightly fade into the background for the introduction and the continuation of the story.

Cheese and Chronicles

Cheese & Chronicles is a narrative podcast for those who love the “how” and the “why” behind what we eat. We explore the origins of the world’s most famous cheeses through the lens of the strange events they witnessed. Come for the history, stay for the recipe.

In my introduction, I use the words: “currency”, “weapon”, “gift for kings”, and “catalyst for chaos” so I wanted to find sounds that would really emphasize this. I used the cash register sound, the shing of a sword, fanfare music, and the sound of people yelling. Each sound corresponded with what I said. The music was light and curious, but not overwhelming. I used my iPhone to record my narration.

I got all of my sounds from Freesound and mixed them in AudioMass. I used Riverside to combine my audio, narration and image. I used Gemini to create the image without text. Canva to add text to the image.

Each episode blends critical analysis with pop culture commentary, breaking down how major films reflect audience expectations, franchise evolution, and industry trends. The intro opens with classic film countdown (5-4-3-2-1) beeps overlayed with a movie projector startup sound to create a cinematic atmosphere. An energetic MCU-style music fanfare plays underneath the host’s voice to build excitement and introduce the episode’s content. My narration was recorded using headphones and Audacity.

This podcast is designed to be a series of episodes analyzing different literary materials in a relatively “cozy” and easy to understand format to match the stereotype of getting comfortable with a good book on a rainy day. The building of the atmosphere and name of the podcast is also what inspired the sound design of the intro. I found some audio of rain and a door, to simulate the idea of coming in from the rain to discuss bookish topics. I also picked a soft and repetitive piano track to serve as simple (but not distracting) background music. We only had thirty seconds to work with for this project, but I tried to keep my intro to the podcast moving at a relatively slow pace (despite the time restriction) to match a relaxing vibe I wanted to capture.

Moss & Mourning is a podcast about southern paranormal experiences. Episodes for this podcast covers encounters by paranormal patrons who have visited some of the most haunted cities in the southern part of the United States. Episode 13, is about my mother-in-law’s experience when she was thirteen years old and lived with her parents in an older New Orleans neighborhood. The episode begins with the sound of a record needle hitting vinyl, paralleling a low-fi, bass-heavy jazz turn which begins to play, but it sounds slightly slowed down, giving it an unsettling, “melted” quality. Then a faint sound of a summer thunderstorm in the distance can be heard as well. Toward the end of the voiceover, the music stops abruptly and the sound of soft rustling, like a silk dress sliding across a wooden floor can be heard, but grows slowly louder, more aggressively. My narration was recorded using my computer microphone, noise cancelling headphones, and compiled as well as edited using Audacity.

Stamped in Time is a podcast about my travels abroad. Each episode features a different country I have visited and lessons I have learned along the way. Episode 6 is about my time in Nepal, seeing Mount Everest.

I used the sound of an airplane taking off with light-hearted music right from the start as I welcomed the audience to the podcast. I then backed off both of those sounds to transition into a Tibetan singing bell and a song inspired by Nepali musical traditions. I recorded my narration using my computer microphone and compiled all the audio and my podcast image in WeVideo. I then connect it to my YouTube channel to upload it to WordPress.
