Media Lab 01: Saleh Ahmed’s blog post

Hello Everyone,

My name is Saleh Ahmed, and I am currently in my 4th semester of the MSIT program. I currently live in Kissimmee, FL, right next to Shingle Creek Park. I obtained my bachelor’s degree from the United Kingdom in 2010 and acquired my certification in Microsoft SQL Server after moving to the United States. I have had the wonderful privilege of working in several great companies all over the United States as a web developer, database analyst, and database administrator. As of the last 8 years, I have been working at Orlando Health as a database administrator. My duties include managing over 300 production servers and being on call every month. I enjoy doing BBQ for friends and family, gardening, traveling, and flying my drone. I especially like taking pictures of new places. I am interested in taking this course to improve my video editing skills.

Leaving a bit of sparkle everywhere I go!

Let’s get into some of that sparkle! Hi everyone! My name is Latasha Harrison and I am located in Tampa, Florida. I grew up in a small town near Orlando called Umatilla, Florida. An interesting fact is that it is so small we only have 2 stop lights and had one of them installed just 5 years ago. 😀 Any other small town folk in the class that can relate? If not, I can tell you growing up in a small town can be a very interesting experience.

I am in my 2nd to last semester here at FSU, currently working on a Master’s degree in Information Technology. I currently work as a Library Technology Guide for the Hillsborough County Library Cooperative. I have been with them for a rewarding 7 years.  My job includes managing technology installation projects, emerging technology, creating technology training guides and videos, and assisting in troubleshooting tech issues within our 27 libraries within the system.

I’m hoping this class will teach me new skills that I can use in my daily work life. I have made videos for school projects and work projects so I am looking to learn some new things and get some helpful tips on making my projects look even better.  My hobbies include binge watching my favorite shows, DIY projects, reading, scrolling on Pinterest, but mostly listening to True Crime Podcasts.  I absolutely LOVE True Crime Podcasts. Sistas Who Kill and Sword and Scale are my two favorites at the moment. Do you have any favorite Podcasts? If so I would like to read about them in the comments.

I am very excited and really looking forward to this class and getting to know my classmates!

Austin in front of the San Fransisco bridge

Hello everyone!

My name is Austin Dudley and I currently live in Pensacola, Florida. I graduated from FSU in 2014 with a B.S. in Information Technology and hope to graduate this year with my MSIT. I work for the United States Navy as an Instructor Pilot for VT-6. This is one of the first places all future Navy pilots must go through in their two year long training program. During my off time, I enjoy camping, playing video games, and occasionally competing in city tennis matches.

I am quite interested in the audio/video editing portions of the class as I did a little bit in my undergrad and remember enjoying seeing the final product after working to put everything together. I equate the feeling to completing a complex puzzle and seeing the beautiful image that seems to appear out of no where. I am hoping to refresh some of the skills that I have lost in media production, learn new tricks/techniques from others, and become more creative throughout this semester.

Happy to be meeting all of you!

I currently live in Tallahassee, Florida near the beautiful Cascades Park. I’ve lived here for nearly my entire life, but I was born in Indiana where some of my family still is. I have been working for the past 6 years as a Systems Administrator at FSU’s College of Communication and Information HelpDesk. My day-to-day consists of supporting our college’s many servers (physical and virtual) as well as our several computer labs across campus. If you’ve ever used CCI Remote Labs for one of your courses, it is likely that you’ve interacted with just a few of the servers I help maintain. If you’re not familiar with the service, it’s a great way to run applications remotely in the cloud without needing to install them on your computer.

I’ve been toying with image/video editing and web design since I was in high school. I am quite familiar with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and I’ll be happy to assist my students with any questions they may have. About five years ago I taught a course for the College of Communication called COM4470 – Desktop Multimedia that covered image editing with Photoshop and designing simple websites with Dreamweaver.

I graduated from the MSIT program in 2019 and have been teaching graduate courses since 2020. I’m very appreciative of the creative opportunity this class provides to students. Many classes can be very dry but this class seems is a lot of fun for everyone involved.
