Living your Destiny with Deidra Lynn Jones is a podcast dedicated to helping others find their purpose, passion, and prosperity. Each week the podcast provides listeners with educational and inspirational tips for living a better life.  I have learned in my 48 years of living that sometimes the best advice for living your best life is not always obvious. Life’s up and downs can knock you down or knock you out. In this podcast we interview everyday people to gain knowledge, insight, and wisdom on navigating the terrain of life to ensure you are living a life of VICTORY!

I created the Living your Destiny podcast by using a variety of audio sounds to create the feeling of busy city life. The audio clips include a person yelling, loud horns and city noises that included motorcycles airplanes and other street sounds. The audio then changes to relaxing ocean ways to focus attention to the topic of the podcast which is finding your happy place.

National Park Tips is a weekly podcast created for people who love to travel. Every week is a different National Park where you can gain insight and tips for your adventure!

I used audacity to combine the sound elements for this podcast. I started with a forest ambience, birds chirping and then faded in an acoustic guitar. I tried to think of music that could relate to the Rocky mountains! Then precisely at the fifteen second line I started speaking. A little before the end I faded the music as well.

For this podcast, I made use of ambient sounds, a sound effect, music, and voice recording. I used the ambient sound of a crowd at a field first, to help acclimate the listener to the feeling of being out at a game. The type of game becomes more apparent shortly after by the added sound effect of a person hitting a ball, and the crowd transitioning to cheering at the play that is happening on the field. I have the music fade in as the crowd cheers and continue as the crowd fades out, and the introduction is made. Then the music fades out after both the hosts are introduced and I let everything center on the voice recording from then on as the main topic of the episode begins.

Lynn’s Let’s Play Gaming Reviews

“Lynn’s Let’s Play Gaming Reviews” by Lynn Nguyen is a derivative of “Mosaic Alien on Wall” by Francesco Ungaro, originally in the Public Domain per the Pexels Photo License. The derivative is licensed under the Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0).

Lynn’s Let’s Play Gaming Reviews is a podcast for non-gamers and gamers ranging from the casual beginners to hard core video game players. Every week on Sunday, I will review and talk about a video game of my choice. This can range from the old retro games to the “Blockbuster” AAA games. I will you give pros and cons about the games and whether or not if it was worth the purchase. In addition, I will give you in game tips, tricks, and possible glitches to look out for. In this episode, I will be reviewing the indie action-adventure game Death’s Door.

For this podcast, I used a variety of video game sound effects, music, and voice overs. From the beginning, I used a small glitch wave sound effect quickly following a kind of 80’s type video game introduction music to get the listeners to feel like they are about to start a new video game. Next I try to fade out the 80’s introduction music and fade in a video game loop background music and my voice over at the same time. I chose this background music because it has fairy tale ambience to it and I want the listener feel like they are beginning a new adventure game with me. I lowered the volume of the background music to be able to hear my voice over more clearly. At the end, I faded out the background music and added the press start sound effect to signal that the podcast was about to begin, similar to pressing start in an actual video game.

I love the ambiance of a coffee house.  The smell of fresh brewed coffee filling the room and subdued, jazzy music playing  in the background makes for the perfect place to relax, knit, and chat with friends.  Visits to many such retreats inspired The Wool Cafe podcast.  My passion is wool.  I belong to a loosely-knit community of fiber artists from whom I constantly draw new ideas.  Its members are so nice and always willing to help with projects.  It would be delightful to sit with many of them over coffee and chat.  My list of potential guests is really endless, from shepherds to owners of yarn mills, indie dyers, designers and creative hobbyists.

Jen, from Whispering Pines Farm, is a perfect example of that friendly and supportive fiber-arts appassionata.  I met Jen at the Rhinebeck Sheep Festival in 2019 where I discovered her beautiful, Shetland-handspun yarn.  I immediately fell in love with the soft texture!  Jen started her own video podcast and asked me to join her in Episode 7 to talk about the shawl I made with her yarn.  So, I selected that same episode 7 for my album art as a nod to her.

The opening of my introduction has the pouring of coffee beans and the background chatter of a coffee house. These are common sounds that create the atmosphere of the setting. Background music is always playing if you take time to notice it. I wanted a track that would give the right mood to the podcast and accurately reflect what you might hear in your local coffee shop. If successful, you can even smell the brew!
