Hi Jonathan! Firstly, I wanted to say that your image felt like one of Tim Green’s middle-grade sports books and pulled me in, even though I’m not a big sports fan. I also felt the high intensity of a sports broadcast in your intro music and narration. After your introduction, the “Let’s Go Organ” immediately made me feel like I was at a baseball game.
I think many sports fans would be interested in a recap show highlighting the biggest events in the sports world, running for an hour or so. Based on this short introduction, the main audience for this podcast would be die-hard sports fans, with a likely strong appeal to adult males. I’m not sure if your intent is to focus regionally or not, but that might be a way to break into the market, while expanding to the biggest sports news would widen the appeal for your audience.
I would recommend, rather than cutting the intro music completely during your voiceover, lowering it to a barely audible level to help drive the intensity of your narration. Additionally, I’m not sure if the whistle just before it cuts off is necessary. It was a bit jarring and felt almost like a sound effect gag.
Hi Jonathan!
I loved your choice of sounds! Similar to Kristi’s suggestion, I would recommend you fade the music so the transition into your narration is a bit smoother. The crowd cheering and clapping sounds were fantastic additions and it really makes it feel like the podcast was recorded live during a game. For these sounds I would recommended you make them a little louder so it sounds like a full room. Overall great choices
