Cheese & Chronicles is a narrative podcast for those who love the “how” and the “why” behind what we eat. We explore the origins of the world’s most famous cheeses through the lens of the strange events they witnessed. Come for the history, stay for the recipe.
In my introduction, I use the words: “currency”, “weapon”, “gift for kings”, and “catalyst for chaos” so I wanted to find sounds that would really emphasize this. I used the cash register sound, the shing of a sword, fanfare music, and the sound of people yelling. Each sound corresponded with what I said. The music was light and curious, but not overwhelming. I used my iPhone to record my narration.
I got all of my sounds from Freesound and mixed them in AudioMass. I used Riverside to combine my audio, narration and image. I used Gemini to create the image without text. Canva to add text to the image.

I LOVE UNWRAP THE WAX. What an excellent phrase! On that note, I liked the sound levels of your podcast – the music played up your words without overpowering it, and the sound effects made sense. I did notice that the cash register sound effect didn’t line up with when you said “currency,” so you might need to watch out on that. But I think this was a creative and unique design, and the script for it is topnotch – I would totally listen to this podcast.
Thank you! And yes, the change sound didn’t quite line up like I had wanted, unfortunately. I tried a few times to make it work. With it being so close to the beginning, it was tough to add that fraction of a second.
I love both cheese and history, so this concept immediately grabbed my attention. Framing cheese as currency, a weapon, and a gift for kings made it feel epic rather than ordinary. I especially liked how you had music playing underneath your narration — it created continuity and gave the introduction a polished, professional tone without overpowering your voice. I also really admired how many different sound effects you incorporated. Layering multiple sounds can be challenging, but you matched each one intentionally to your key words. That made the introduction feel immersive and theatrical. This feels like a podcast that could absolutely find an audience.
This is a very fun idea. I am a cheese lover, so it caught my attention. The sound effects worked well. They were all timed perfectly, except for the cash register, which you addressed above. Your voice was clear and upbeat. I like all the puns you put into your script as well. Well done!
