While browsing through photos taken by the Chandra x-observatory telescope for Nasa, the group of stars shining so brightly together in this image stuck out to me instantly. It almost seemed as though they were a group, a unit of some sort, that was chatting with one another. I wanted the music accompanying the image to convey a sense of playful banter between companions. Together, I think this image and sound can be seen as a group of stars in joyful communion with one another. Whether they are friends, neighbors, family members, or a group with a common interest meeting for the first time. Or maybe they’re a band! What may be taking place amongst this cluster of stars is open for interpretation, but it is safe to say they’re having a stellar time with one another.

I really liked the title of this mash-up, I think it suits the picture and music perfectly. I liked the idea that the music was what it sounds like when the stars talk to each other. I also looked up the constellation Corona Australis that these stars are in and was surprised that it’s in the Milky Way and is visible in the night sky between Scorpio and Sagittarius!
Hi Melody,
This is such a fun mix! It gave me a Guardians of the Galaxy feel. When I first saw the image, I thought of the slow techno music that plays when you’re in the planetarium listening to a narrator telling you about the constellations. Then, when I played the audio, it changed the image to a happy little dance party. I can now see those stars chatting happily. I also enjoyed your “stellar” pun. 🙂
Hello Melody, I really enjoyed this playful piece. I found it to be very creative how you interpreted the cluster of stars to be communicating in some way. The sound you chose really enhanced this idea. I think it would also be interesting to pair this image with a meditative song. Great job on this project; your links all worked great and I can tell you put a lot of thought into your audio and image pairing!
