If you haven’t gotten the chance to read my introductory post, its good context to know that I reside in a tiny town in West Virginia. Tonight, around midnight, much of the east coast is expecting the most snow its seen in years, and my tiny town is right in the middle of it all. I took inspiration from my anticipation and thought about those nights where you lay in bed hearing the wind howl, seeing snow flurries rush by your window. Then you wake up, all is still, and as you peek out between your blinds you see that the world outside is covered in a fresh blanket of snow. I wanted to capture this feeling through this project.

First of all, I hope you are doing okay through all this cold weather. I know it’s been annoying here in north Florida, but I cannot even imagine have to deal with snow. I think the image and audio you selected both stand on their own. Both are very clear and easily identifiable as being related to weather, snow and wind respectively. I say wind for the audio, just because my own inexperience with snow leaves me less sure if this is a specific winter/snow wind or more general. I think pairing these two pieces works very well to emphasize the winter storm, to me the quality of both pieces also makes me feel like they could be the opening to a movie.
Overall, as you note in the title, there is a calmness to what you have posted, so I think as far as other audio ideas go, it could be interesting to pair this image with an audio that builds tension and warns of more danger to come. Maybe something like sirens? Or really intense/dramatic music.
Technically, I think this was well formatted, and for my screen at least, the image was the perfect size.
As someone who’s only once dealt with snow, the image inspires little outside of its literal contents–it’s cold, dark, and devoid of people, though some light shines through from warm interiors. The audio does nothing for emotion for me, but does envelop me in the setting. I certainly hope you’re doing well out there, as I’d hate to be in this kind of weather. Good job on the technical parts–I guess that guy did just title it 210523.
The image you chose does a great job of capturing the peaceful silence that comes after a snow storm (I assume, considering I grew up in California, now live in Florida, and have never fully experienced snow). The audio is, perhaps, a bit expected but also gives a bit of a look into what that scene may have looked and sounded like before the picture was taken and the snow was still falling. Another choice for the audio could have been something that invokes Spring, or what can be looked forward to after the snow melts away. Great technical work! I hope that you are doing okay!
The image creates a feeling of coziness and comfort despite the storm setting. The snow-covered scene feels quiet and contemplative, almost protective, as if the world has paused. On its own, the image suggests stillness and reflection. The blizzard audio, rather than feeling threatening, enhances that coziness for me. It makes the warmth of being indoors more tangible and invites a deeper connection to nature. Together, they create a contrast between movement and stillness. An interesting alternative could be soft instrumental music, which might heighten the reflective tone. Technically, the layout and embedded audio work well.
