Description:
I chose to do a fashion related podcast called “Trend Talk” for this assignment. The goal of this podcast is to discuss a controversial fashion trend on each episode with input from listeners. The intended audience for this podcast would be teens, young adults, and fashion enthusiasts. To acheive this vibe, I chose to use a high pitched, excited voice to portray the sense of an outgoing individual. The first three clicks in the introduction of the podcast are meant to sound like a camera at a photoshoot or clicks from paparrazi. Next, I picked a lofi song that reminded me of something that I would hear at a fashion show or gallery event. The addition of the police siren audio clip adds a bit of humor that will be necessary to keep listeners from getting bored throughout the duration of the podcast. I felt that it was not necessary to have background music while I was speaking so that there was not a distraction from what I was saying.

Hi Kyla! I feel like you perfectly set the mood with your podcast. The beginning camera clicks and high energy music bring an upbeat tone to the podcast and keep listeners engaged. I also loved the inclusion of the sirens. This wakes a listener up, and shows that the podcast is lighthearted and fun. I feel like the siren was a little loud compared to your voice, but I struggled with that too while creating my podcast. It is hard to talk as loud as the sound effects! Overall, this podcast sounds fun and engaging and I would love to listen to it. P.S. I hope skinny jeans DON’T come back!
Hi Kyla! Wow, I absolutely love the way you set up the intro with the sounds of photography juxtaposed with your intro music! Especially when reading the premise was fashion, it immediately set the tone of the podcast. Additionally, using the siren sound after “fashion emergency” was very effective at conveying humor through the podcast! I agree with your choice to have your voice stand alone, because it lets the sound bite of the siren really stand out. As for your topic, this is a super timely idea for a very prominent niche. I would never have thought about a podcast for fashion since we associate it so closely with visuals, but the format of podcasting lends itself to chatting about trending topics, including fashion trends! I think you could have a broad audience, because fashion has become so integral to how we present ourselves. Folks looking for a way to explore some of these trends, their history, and their implications would find a lot of entertainment with this podcast!
Hi Kyla,
The music kind of reminds me of those fashion runway shows on TV and when they would show the grammy outfits on E! This podcast would be very funny, entertaining and lighthearted. The siren wakeup call is hilarious and is a great way to grab the listeners attention. I feel like some of the siren overtakes your voice, but I too struggled with audio editing for my podcast as it is tough to adjust figure out. Overall, I love the concept of this podcast, I would be interested to see this podcast become a thing.
I still rock the skinny jeans occasionally, but I mostly have been rocking the barrel jeans, jumpsuits and linen pants lately.
Awesome podcast intro, Kyla!
