Sound Elements
For this podcast’s intro: I lowered the pitch of my voice recording. The background music is the electronic hardstyle track “H O L D M E B A C K” by SO SHA. I also used the voice clip “The face you are looking for no longer exists” and the sound effect “Answering Machine BEEP 1,” both sourced from Freesound. The purpose of incorporating these sounds was to create an exciting and motivational podcast designed to improve the quality of life for listeners.

Hi Heather,
Your podcast concept is really interesting. The image you chose matches the content of your podcast and I think you chose strong design elements that support the theme of your podcast. That said, I do feel that the image could be a little smaller, I can’t see the image and click play on the audio at the same time, I have to scroll down and part of the image is no longer visible. I also feel that there is a disconnect between the softness of your image and the high intensity of your audio. Thank you for sharing 🙂
Hello Heather. I like the choice of image for your podcast cover. I immediately associate that this podcast is about styling optimization. Your font color also shares a similar gold tone as the trim in the background of the image and you’ve placed the title in the top right focal point, following the rule of thirds. This helps create a visually pleasing cover image for me. You have a strong vocal presence telling your listeners to get stoked and get ready to transform and unlock their best self. This is backed up by a great electronic music selection that also pumps up the listener. By looking at the image though, I was expecting something more like classical music instead of electronic music. The only issue I had, and it’s definitely just me, is that on my initial play throughs, I couldn’t tell if the voice clip was saying “face” or “phase”. After reading your section on sound elements, it confirmed what I assumed to be “face” due to the context of your podcast. As I replay it my ears are playing tricks on me and I hear still hear “phase”. Overall, great work and choices for your podcast.
Hi Heather! I’ve never been to a SoulCycle class but I imagine this is what it would feel like! The vibe you meant to convey came through completely and cohesively through your sound effect, music, and the tone of your voice. Though the quality of both are very nice on their own, I do agree with Jason that the aesthetics of the podcast cover and the podcast itself do not quite match. Lastly, I don’t have much experience with audio recording and editing, but it seems almost like your voiceover may have a bit of reverb (echo), and I couldn’t tell if it was purposeful. My musician friend recommended recording under a comforter, which seemed to work OK for me!
