Hi Caitlin! I enjoy how you interpreted this article with the photo you chose. I think that the close-up to this subject’s understanding gaze, especially with her eyes being in the most lighted portion, evokes the quality of “recognition.” What I appreciate most about this graphic is the muted color palette, every color fits together very well, almost as if you took them right out of the photo. In many cases, I feel like putting the heading for a graphic under the body would not work, but I think because the body text is aligned to not go past “Article 6,” and because “Article 6” is on top of an opaque text box, my gaze was drawn there first. I remember touching on the topic in our first lecture class, but seeing as the photographer contributing his photo is a traveler who takes a good amount of portraits, I wonder how gaining permission from subjects works.
Hey Caitlin, I am fond of the picture you chose for your article. I can see clearly what message you are trying to deliver. The fonts you chose go very well together. The pop of color for the title helps it stand out. I do believe for the title to go above the body of text, and a way you could have kept your original styling was by putting a dash before Article 6. This would have helped say this is what article 6 is stating. Along with the dash to not really separate the two texts was to continue with the beige background color. Other than those minor tweaks I would have taken, your fonts complement each other.
Hi Caitlin, I really like the fonts and colors you chose here. I think they support the sincerity of the image overall, and I think the variation in weight and style is good. However, I feel like “Article 6” should have a slightly larger margin on the right; it feels a little tight as-is. Furthermore, while I love the choice to have an extreme close-up portrait, I think that the message would have been supported a little better if the woman’s whole face were in view. I do love this image, though. Good work!
