Hello everyone,
My name is Jacob and I am currently studying for my MSI degree here at FSU! I am currently a social studies teacher in Jacksonville, Florida. I enjoy visiting museums, historic sites, new restaurants, and watching documentaries in my free time. I am hoping to gain a lot of new creative and technical skills to apply to being a school librarian in the future. I especially will take interest in the story development and digital storytelling units within the course.
To learn more about my interests you can see the website of our local museum called the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens (www.cummermuseum.org)
Also to see more in the area historic St. Augustine is about 30 minutes south from me. Here is a guide to different sights to explore in the area. oldcity.com
Farewell,
Jacob

Hi Jacob! I absolutely love and miss learning about social studies. I am curious to know which grade level you teach. It sounds like all of your hobbies align with your current profession and probably help to contribute to your profession in some way or another. It will be great to see your journey to eventually becoming a school librarian. Thank you for sharing the two links. The Cummer Museum of Arts and Gardens seems very beautiful. The oldcity.com website is very helpful as well! I have family coming in April and was looking for an informative website to find sights to explore in the area.
Hi Jacob, best of luck in your School Librarian journey, it sounds like it will be a great fit for you! Schools need people who care about history enough to tell it in stories, not just dates! I also love exploring museums, Roanoke has a lovely art museum called the Taubman, and D.C. is close enough to home that I’m able to visit a lot. Baltimore (where I’m from), also has a wealth of nice museums. Cummer Museum and Gardens looks absolutely lovely and whimsical, I’m slightly jealous.
Hello Jacob! I am excited to meet another person who loves museums. I visited St. Augustine last year and it was a freaking blast! I love stepping into history and exploring the history of places. Next time I am up north I will add the Cummer Museum to my list of places I will check out. Looks like a place my Wife and I would love!
