Hi! My name is Grace and I live in Tallahassee, FL. I am in the Master of Science in Information Technology program. I work in the Information Technology department at Florida State University. A fun hobby that I have been getting into over the past few months is pottery! I have been taking beginner wheel classes at the union.
I am interested in learning about media production in this class. I have little to no prior experience in media production beyond directing my Tik Toks, so I hope to gain new knowledge and skills in this field.

Hi Grace!
I find it fun that you are getting into pottery! I remember trying to sign up for the beginner’s class, but they were fully booked. I wanted to try it out this term as well, but I didn’t get lucky, ha-ha. So, I’m going to try for enrollment next term—fingers crossed. What made you try out pottery? I’d love to know more about what piqued your interest in the activity and maybe even your previous hobbies. Anyway, I think you will do great in this course. Your creativity skills, as I’ve seen in a previous course, are off the chain!
Hi Grace,
It’s nice to meet you! It’s great to hear you’re in the MS in IT program at FSU. Your work in the IT department gives you some incredible insights. Pottery sounds like such a fun hobby! I’ve always admired people who can make things with their hands, so I can imagine how relaxing and rewarding those classes must be. Fun fact: I tried making art with clay back in the day but was terrible at it. Error: Not enough dexterity. Haha.
This class will be a great way to expand your skills in media production. TikToks are a fun way to start, and you’ll enjoy diving deeper into the technical side of things and looking forward to seeing what you create!
Hi Grace, nice to meet you! Pottery is a really cool hobby, I love how tactile it is, I imagine it is very grounding to get to create something so physically with your hands. That’s part of the reason that I love crochet; I can physically create something with my hands and it’s very soothing to be able to just create.
I also have limited experience with media production aside from passion products on social media, but it’s been surprising to see how some of that can transfer! TikTok was (is? depending on the ban?) interesting in how much it did allow for creativity and editing or super simple videos. I’m excited for us to learn new skills in this class, and look forward to seeing your work!
