I’m usually a man of patience, but for the past 24 weeks I’ve been eager to get to April 2025. No, it’s not to complete my MSIT program at FSU – I still have three classes to finish, which will be completed by the end of the Summer term. No, it’s not to attend Megacon and add to my collection of comics, collectibles, and autographs – Megacon is next month in Orlando. No, it’s not because I’m selling our house and moving away from the First Coast – I’ve been raised here since my parents relocated in 1986 and I don’t foresee leaving any time soon. “Then, why?”, you ask. I’m rather impatient at the moment, because I, Jason Rosario, along with my beautiful wife, will be welcoming our first child into our family this year. We are so excited and cannot wait to meet our baby boy face to face in April.
As with first time Dads, I have questions, hopes, fears, and daydreams of what is to come. Will raising him up in Florida be the best? Will my current role as an IT Director allow me the flexibility and time to spend with my family; will I quickly find that work and life balance? Will he love OG Star Wars as much as we do? What type of a dad will I become? From a student perspective, will I be able to maintain an “A” with my final class, or worse, will I need to postpone taking it and delay my Master’s degree? We shall see.

As with most new parents, we will definitely be taking photos and videos galore. I’m looking forward to our digital media class because I can immediately take away what I learn from our course and apply it to the photos, videos, and media we take of our family. I’ll also be able to enhance my social media skills and possibly create a secure and private website for family member access to personal baby blogs, photos, and media of our baby boy as he grows up. Unbeknownst to me, the timing of taking LIS 5313 has worked out in our favor, not only for my degree program, but also for our new bundle of joy upcoming.
Are we there yet? Seriously. I cannot wait for this next big adventure to begin in our family and marriage. I need to remind myself that he’ll be here before we know it.
Hello Jason,
First off, Congratulations on your baby! I pray that his birth will be safe and he will come out healthy and strong.
I am recently married and my husband and I happen to be BIG fans of OG Star Wars! We recently finished The Mandalorian and Boba Fett and plan to watch Ashoka next. But I think our favorite to watch is A New Hope. I even bought my husband the Lego Mandalorian helmet and helped him put it together. I have never been to a big con before but Megacon sounds fantastic! I have attended Collectivecon that is usually held here in Jacksonville each year, but I haven’t been in years! Besides Star Wars, I am a MEGA fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Batman, and superheroes in general. I hope your move to a new house goes well and congratulations again on your baby boy!
Thank you so much Sarah! We are praying the same. Baby boy is truly a blessing and answered prayer. I haven’t been to Collectivecon yet. I need to see when and who’ll be guest appearing this year. Megacon is fun to go to, but it’s become more popular every year and it can get a bit crowded. The cosplay and creativity is amazing to see too. Thank you for sharing your other fandoms. DC rules this house for superheroes, and YES, TMNT all the way!
Hi Jason! Thank you for sharing your good news with us! Congratulations to you and your wife on the new addition to your family. I love that you shared your ultrasound photo with us! You mentioned that you were an IT director. Do you think this role has made you more prepared for this class or is website and media development not in the wheelhouse of an IT director? I’m from the MSI side of the program so I feel like the MSIT students automatically know more than me on these subjects but I could be wrong!
Thank you so much Olivia! Seeing baby boy for the first time on the screen was so amazing and humbling. We can’t wait until he’s here in April. I manage the network operations team at my work and digital media isn’t quite in our wheelhouse but rather we support the transportation and protection of the data between the systems and applications. Although I don’t have in depth experience with web design or digital media production, it is still important to have the understanding of it in my role; this helps in the architecture and design aspects. For class preparation, I have used Audacity in the past to splice and convert media prompts for an on-premise call center menu though, so I at least have that experience to my advantage at the moment for our upcoming class projects. For me personally, I never stayed long on the social media train so I’ll be learning a lot this semester. I have accounts on Facebook and Instagram, but I rarely look at them unless it’s to approve the occasional tag. My time is just rooted to other priorities, like family, friends, and school in this current season. Maybe I’ll get back on once baby arrives so I can securely and safely share life events as he grows up.
Oh my goodness congratulations on your baby boy!!! I love your choice of writing style. I understand the many hats you have to juggle and being worried about it when your baby gets here. I’m not a mother but my senior year in undergrad I had to navigate 4 classes two part time jobs and manage a 24 hour schedule with a new born. It was hectic but so endearing! I know the same will be said for you your wife and baby boy come April.
