Hello everyone! My name is Kaleah Gonzalez, and I currently live in Homestead, Florida. This is my first semester at Florida State University, and I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in Information Technology. I recently graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from UCF. After completing this program, I am debating getting my PhD. I have an interest in artificial intelligence and hope to delve a little deeper into it. I want to pursue a career in software development, creating and maintaining user needs.

Beach Edition
Outside of class, I enjoy multiple hobbies, such as reading, photography, and going to the beach. A fun fact about me is that I read 120 books last year. My favorite genres to read are romance and fantasy. Although I am fond of a hardcover here and there, most books I read are on my Kindle. I got into photography in 2023. I started to travel more and wanted to capture all those moments in a quality higher than an iPhone; I currently have a Canon G7X Mark III. I have been thinking about getting a film camera, but I’m indecisive about which one. So if you have any suggestions, please let me know.
I am excited about this class and learning different tools to create digital media projects. Effectively learning how to edit or design digital images, audio, and video elements is a nice addition to my growing passion for photography. I feel everyone can benefit from learning even the basics of digital media.
Hi Kaleah! Firstly, your dog is so precious and does not seem afraid of being in that boat at all. And welcome to the FSU program! This happens to be my last semester, but I will always remember my first semester…and the anticipation that came with it. By the way, since you mentioned creating/maintaining user needs, I would recommend applying for the User Services certificate while you complete your MSIT program! I did the same certificate, and a lot of the classes were super interesting.
I am so impressed with your book count; between work and school, I’m not reading much these days. I hope to get back into my “to-be-read” pile after graduating. I am a Kindle girl as well, especially with the Overdrive app being compatible with it.
Hello Kaleah! It’s such a pleasure to read your post and realize that, surprisingly, there is someone who shares so many similarities with me. This is also my first year at Florida State University, and I’m happy to see that you’ve found a specific area in IT you’re eager to explore further.
I’m also amazed by the number of books you read last year! My record was only 60 books, and I can’t imagine how you managed that alongside your studies and other hobbies. Thank you for reminding me about reading books. Being new to the U.S. and adjusting to university life here made me forget about this hobby that helps me feel calm. By the way, I also love romance and fantasy genres.
Wishing you all the best! Let’s make the most of our master’s degree in Information Technology together!
Hi Kaleah,
Welcome to FSU! This is my fourth semester and so far all of the professors I have had are amazing here. There is a class called LIS 5916 Issues in Information Studies and there are two different course topics on AI. Also kudos to you for knowing what you want to do in the future with your IT career. There are a lot of AI based jobs and more to come as Microsoft and other big name corporations are jumping on the AI bandwagon.
I am also into photography as well, I use to do portraits for families, senior photos, and professional head shots. Kudos to you for being able to read all of those books. I want to get back into reading so if you have any recommendations
You’ve got this Kaleah!
