Hello, classmates! My name is Kristopher DeMarco, but I prefer just Kris. I was born in Michigan, lived in Nevada, and eventually moved to Florida in 2010. My hometown is Naples and I go back there every so often to see my parents. Currently, I live in Tallahassee, right next to campus. I love being close to campus, as I appreciate a good walk or run through the university. I have two bachelors degrees from the University of Florida and Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. After obtaining my second degree, I knew my next step was a graduate degree. I love being in school and hope to continue my education throughout my life. Deciding on FSU for graduate school was an easy choice because I previously lived and attended FSU and enjoyed it thoroughly. Not to mention the cost of in-state tuition is much cheaper! I am in the MSIT program in my second semester and so far, it has been going well, and I have enjoyed learning about IT. I am also pursuing the Information Architecture and User Services Graduate Certificate. I was recently hired as an intern for the virtualization team at FSU’s Information Technology Services. There I hope to continue my learning and narrow down exactly what type of IT I want to delve into. I am interested in cybersecurity and usability. Some of my hobbies include reading traveling, watching sports and movies, and video games. I love reading thrillers and just finished a great Dean Koontz novel, TickTock. It was a quick read but entertaining nonetheless, I recommend it if you like thrillers! I watch many sports events and occasionally will bet when I am feeling risky, although usually I do not win any money. My favorite sports teams that I follow religiously include the LA Chargers, Miami Heat, and Atalanta BC. I am so excited to take this class, specifically working with web-based tools. Last semester, I took Design and Production of Network Multimedia and enjoyed it a lot. We created a basic website using HTML and CSS, which I want to learn more about. I hope to gain knowledge and more experience with website tools in this class and meet peers interested in similar aspects of IT.

I leave you all with a picture of one of my favorite events I have ever witnessed: the solar eclipse in Texas in April of this year!
Hi Kristopher! It’s nice to meet you. Congrats on securing your internship with FSU’s Information Technology Services. Currently, I’m in my second semester of internship within the LIS field. Right now my role as an intern is tied to the reference department at Valencia College Library. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it so far and hope you have a positive learning experience within yours as well. I’m curious, what were your two previous bachelor’s degrees in? How would you compare your experiences between UF, FGCU, and FSU? And while I’m not an avid sports fan, I do enjoy the occasional basketball game. Also a big fan of the Miami Heat! Feedback wise, I had a bit of trouble opening your Dean Koontz link on my desktop. Though the page loaded, the website itself seemed pixelated/broken with no images and question marks in place of graphics. However, I’m wondering if it could be browser incompatibility in my case? Or perhaps it’s simply a glitch on the site right now. Either way, I just thought I’d let you know! Please feel free to take it with a grain of salt. Overall, very informative post. Wishing you a great semester! 🙂
Hey Kris,
You’ve had a very productive life so far, to say the least. I also attended FGCU! But only for my first year of college, and then I transferred to UCF where I earned my bachelor’s. I also find the idea of being a life-long student appealing and I am considering a second master’s in museum studies or archival preservation after I graduate from FSU this coming May. All of the links your provided are functional. My only suggestion is perhaps the picture you included of yourself could have been cropped to allow for your face to be more of the focal point. It’s a great picture but this blog serves as an introduction to you and, while I now know a lot about you, I’m not sure I’d recognize you if I met you. I also feel like your post could have benefited from breaking up the text into multiple paragraphs. When I first opened your post I felt a little intimidated by the wall of text that faced me. Overall, though, a great post and it was lovely to “meet” you. 🙂
Howdy Kris,
We are twins! I am in my last semester of the MSIT program and also went for that Information Architecture certification – the cybersecurity course was my favorite of the program by far, I learned a lot and also got to perform multiple different attacks and made some really cool videos demonstrating the damage the attacks can do on a virtual machine, it’s dope. What is even crazier, I was also born in Michigan! Haha Don’t worry, I was not also at the eclipse in Texas, but I did consider driving up there! Awesome photo and best of luck to you!
