Reading in the A.M. is a weekly podcast for readers who love to wake up to the smell of a fresh page (though nighttime readers are welcome too, of course!). Running similarly to a book club, a book is picked each month for the community to read and is discussed in a casual conversation (through Q&A on a community forum) on the last Friday of the month. Each Friday before the last is a segment-specific episode, the third Friday of the month relegated to Genre Talk. Genre Talk relates to the primary genre of that month’s chosen book and analyzes characters, setting, archetypes, plot, and other narrative devices. This episode is dedicated to fantasy.

This podcast makes use of voice, sound effects, ambient sound and music. It starts off with a bird chirping (ambient sound) to signal early morning and the sound of pages turning (sound effect) as a signifier of finding the right page before beginning. The turning pages fade soon after my narration starts. Calm, serene music is played throughout the clip to keep the listener relaxed. As the narration pauses near the end, a dragon roar (sound effect) ends the clip to transition the podcast into its full dive into fantasy and its elements.
