With the placement of the text, the focus of the image is the hand reaching out to the boy. I think that speaks to how people should ‘act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood’. Overall, the image and the article chosen go well together. If possible, I would have taken the balloon above the boys head out of the image because it looks like he’s being bonked with it, which is a bit distracting and takes away from the focus.
I think the placement of the text could be improved. At first glance, I honestly didn’t even notice the 1 to show which article it was. I had to look for it for a second because it blended in. I might have included the article number within the text box because it seems a bit out of place being alone to the left. I like that the textbox is a bit transparent so you can see the rest of the image, but the text as a whole could also probably be a bit smaller as it takes up a lot of the image.
Hi Jo,
I find it interesting that you used just the number 1 by itself, without the word “article” like most of us did. I feel like the photo is saying “this is number 1, period.” That attitude is fitting for this article as it guarantees our basic human rights of freedom and equality. I do have to admit the body of the article is a little on the larger side. You could scale that by at least 50% and it would “fit the page” much better. I do recognize that the font families are different between the number and text. They work well together.
As for the image, I think this is headed in the right direction. I made the comment on another post that used Article 1 that their image could have benefitted from having more people present to really sell the spirit of brotherhood home. It appears this photo was taken at an event/festival so these people are acting in that spirit, but it would help if they were more engaged with one another.
