Hello everyone,
In the top picture you can see my house in a different state that actually get four seasons of whether not like our Florida. This picture of last fall was taken by me after I cleaned all the fallen tree leaves that were covering the whole front yard. I called this picture the Frontline.
I cropped the picture two times, and I was able to get different views of some details and elements in that picture. In the first picture I was able to crop the neighbor’s house and come close to view the elements of the tress in front of my house.
In the second cropped picture, I was able to see more details were not viewed well in the other two pictures. I was able to actually read the Home sign hanging on the left of the front door. Besides, I was able to read the small Arabic word Allah (God) hanging on the right at the front entrance. Looking deep in the cropped picture, I can read the name on the stone on the ground and more details can be shown in this cropped picture.
I think that the crop does a good job of bringing a new meaning to the image. The first image is more about the yard, cleaning the leaves, and the house as a whole. But then cropping in on the house gives you a homier, welcoming feeling and more thoughts of the people who live there. I like how as you zoom in, you can read more of the signage around the house. A front door is supposed to be nice and welcoming, which we get from the signage and it tells more of a story about those who live there.
Hello Abdelrahman. Cropping out the sidewalk, the garage, and the neighbor’s house highlights the front of the home, which, with the title Frontline, is appropriate. The original image has too many options for the viewer to pick from and leaves the intended subject up to the viewer’s discretion. Maybe naming them each something different would help differentiate between the purpose or intended subject of each photo. Perhaps, since the final image is more of a close-up of the front entrance, a title about a warm welcome. I love how each time you cropped the original image, something of different importance became the focal point. You have a beautiful home.
Hi Abdu! In your first iteration of cropping, the cropped image transforms this scene from a messy scene about living in the suburbs in the fall to a story about different plants coexisting in the same space. In the second crop, the image becomes much more about the people who live in the house.
You could have also cropped out the majority of the house to focus on the lawn, sidewalk, and plants at the front of the house. This might tell a story about how seasons change and the passage of time. Your third image probably has the best balance with respect to the “Rule of Thirds”.
Hi Abou,
I think you did a good job by cutting out the garage in your 2nd and 3rd iterations of the photo. It was very easy to get distracted by it and not focus on the details of the porch. The decor on the outside of the home and porch is overshadowed by the large yard and fall leaves. Cropping allowed us to focus more on the details of the outside of the home like the security camera protecting you all and the smaller plants on the porch.
