When I saw this picture, it actually reminded me of various infected cells. It is actually a picture of the disease defined as the causal agent of Coronavirus Disease. It is a strain of the severe-acute-respiratory-syndrome-related coronavirus. This changed the world and created a new work place as we now know as “work from home” as the new normal. We were forced to take serious precautions that still rendered hundreds of thousands of deaths.
I chose the futuristic creepy sounds because it complements the visual presence of the SARS in this picture. The sounds denote unknown and confused depictions of the cells and how they appear to be attached and dislocated.
Hi Sharon,
The image by itself feels like I’m looking at something under a microscope. But when I look at the image with the sound, it makes me think of something alien and from science-fiction. For me, the sound changed the way I perceived the image. The meaning changed a bit, though perhaps not much. When the COVID-19 pandemic upended our lives, it felt like there was some kind of alien force that had invaded our society (and our bodies). So perhaps the intended meaning behind the image has not been changed much. I wonder if, with audio that inspired a sense of wonder, if this image would look more like fish eggs or some other life found in the sea. Good work!
Hello Sharon! When I first read the title of your post and saw the picture my first thought was horror. I expected to hit play and hear something that would fit into a scary movie. However, I really like the audio you chose. COVID and the lock down felt like a work of science fiction and an “I can’t believe this is happening during my life time” event. The audio highlights these emotions and gives new meaning to the picture of the virus.

Good post Sharon!
Wow! I can’t believe how much I hated that sound. But I know that was your point! Great job, Sharon. I can see how these two eerie pieces fit together. Indeed, this virus changed the world and brought a lot of pain and suffering. Pairing it with something unpleasant to the ears seems fitting. Neither the song nor the image elicits any positive sensation; you captured that very well here. Overall, this is a great post!
