Growing up, I would leave for school before the sun came up. This often meant that there would be lots of fog and as we drove over the bridge to get off the highway the sun would rise behind the skyline creating a perfect sillhoette of the city. It was my favorite part of every morning because it seemed like somthing out of the movies. Lke the opening scene or the end of a movie when you are driving toward the next big adventure and you are just staring out the window, imagining you are the main character of the story.
When I heard this song it reminded me of the music I listened to my senior year of highschool. So when I heard it I started thinking about those mornings looking out the window listening to my music and creating a intro monologue for my life. I think when you listen to a song like this that is upbeat, ambient and inspirtational it fits with this image of a morning sunrise of a big city with so many main characters living there.
Separately, the image and the audio are both wonderful. The image is stunning, while the audio is upbeat. I listened to the audio before reading your blog post and tried to determine how the two fit together. Without the context, I wasn’t fitting the upbeat music with the quiet, still, foggy morning, but WOW, once I read your blog describing how these two separate items recreated this memory for you, I’m unable to view it any other way. My memories, very similar to yours, rushed back to me. This was a very creative and personal combination that I wouldn’t have considered ultimately putting together. Your post reminded me that the combinations we put together don’t have to be quite so literal and can be what appear to be two different things but still evoke strong emotions. My only suggestion would be to proofread the blog portion before submitting. I copy and paste all my writings into a grammar checker because even if I read it over four times, there’s still going to be a comma or a misspelling. I’m so glad I was grouped with you!
The first thing that came to mind when I saw the picture was “Wow that’s a wonderful image to choose” I played the audio after I read your blog, and I could relate when you said that audio and image makes you feel like you are in a movie scene, and this is the introductory frame. I would like to add that it made me also feel that this was a cutscene of a mission in a video game specifically GTA V as they usually add this kind of music to their cutscenes. Overall, I enjoyed reading your blog and how you tried to blend the audio with the image.
Hi Alexa! The image you chose for your post really did make me think of the opening scene to a movie, when the main character is leaving their boring life in the suburbs and coming to the big city. Never having lived in a big city nor in the mountains, I can still relate to the idea of looking down on the lights from above; seeing the road ahead and the buildings of the city rising up from the fog – maybe like flying in on an airplane – does give a feeling of anticipation for what’s ahead. The fog makes it a bit mysterious, though, so it’s interesting that you paired it with the track you chose. You describe the music as upbeat, but maybe you could have chosen something with a stronger rhythm track, with bass and drums, but without vocals. That might have helped give a more upbeat sense of building toward a new day.
Hey Alexa! This image that you chose is beautiful, I love looking at city skylines as each one is unique and has its touch. Listening to the audio, I also found it to be very cheerful and bright which for me tends to be the mood that any major city gives out. So with that, I believe that the image paired with the audio was an excellent match. Reading over your text takes me back, I have lived in a city before so I know exactly what you mean by waking up early and walking through the dense fog to school as I experienced that myself when I was younger.
