I talked in the first blog about being born in Egypt. Here I’m posting a picture of the Pyramids of Egypt at Giza area. What is it famous and know to people that Egypt has only three Pyramids, but this is not true. Egypt has more than fifty Pyramids, but the famous ones are the Three at Giza area. I also tried to upload an mp3 for techno track I liked, but WP did not allow me to upload it because the audio file was exceeding 10mb, so I had to change it another audio from Soun Cloud. After getting with Dr. Barrager, I was told not to embed anything from Sound Cloud due to the copyright. I uploaded a similar audio that sounds close the original one I wanted it upload.
Such a beautiful and a mystical country with ancient wisdom. This photo you found, shows also how symmetrical Giza pyramids are and that the structures are so perfectly aligned! Thank you fore sharing that info, I knew that there are some pyramids in Dahshur too, but I could never imagine that there are more than fifty in the whole Egypt! Also your Soundcloud selection, it matches well your story and I like very much the feel of the post.
As for your mp3 upload I wonder if you downloaded the mp3 file and then tried to upload through through your media library, usually it’s not WP that has a limit ( i think it has 150mb) but the hosting provider usually sets this limit- tried myself and it seems that it can play heavier than 10
MB files, (like 30′ podcasts) when dowloaded them first in my laptop. Another way is the “free convert” https://www.freeconvert.com/mp3-compressor, to compress mp3 files, it’s also safe and easy to use.
I hope that this helps for any future mp3 uploads…
The image of the pyramids combined with the music you chose has me wishing I could visit! It definitely evokes a sense of adventure and had me imagining I was traveling through the desert – which is no mean feat when I’m sitting here at my desk!
I also appreciated that you used an image with a CC NC-SAMPLING+ 1.0 DEED license – that’s not one I had seen before.
One small note for future assignments – don’t forget to tag your post with the relevant assignment tag so that it can be easily found. For this assignment, the tag was “CC” – I’m going to post in the peer support discussion how to tag your posts if you have questions!
I like the way the music clip you found has an Egyptian feel to it, and the music goes nicely with the image of the pyramids you have chosen. The sound enhances the image and makes one feel immersed in the landscape you have shown. I think it would be interesting to go another route and put some techno or electronic dance music with the image to juxtapose the ancient and modern. Good job!
This is one of those moments when I wish we had a backstory on the image. It looks like a painting or something that has been created through a series of editing. The alignment maybe? Not sure if it’s the angle or the proportions, but its playing with my mind a little bit. Emotionally, I think I may be confused – distracted by the context? I’ve seen photos of pyramids before and maybe it’s the scale, but the image does not stir the same feeling. Those are massive structures, and in the past, I have been in awe of the scale. The image doesn’t do that for me – it makes me more curious than anything else.
I wish you were able to load the techno, because that would have been an unexpected addition to the image. People are going to draw from reference – the audio sounds like what I hear in the background from an old movie or cartoon. The techno sound would have made it modern, which — the pyramids are – despite their age. This is an image of 1999 and in the ears of those surrounding those massive structures, someone is listening to techno. Any genre honestly would change the meaning and push the image into a space that better reflects the mood and tells a story. Since the selection was a substitute, what were you going for? The blog suggests you wanted to educate, how did the techno compliment or possibly shift that perspective?
Hi there! The history and architecture of the Pyramids in Egypt have always been so interesting and amazing to look at, I would love to visit them in person to experience their astounding presence. I feel as though I’m not able to fully experience the size of the Pyramids through this photo specifically. I enjoyed hearing about your original thought process to add a techno track to pair with the image of the Pyramids and would have liked to hear more on the connection between the two.
