Good day! My name is Sharon Frazier and I am from Indiana. My husband and I moved to Middleburg, Florida, five years ago. We decided that we had enough of the -30 degree weather and snow 12+ inches high, so we left that behind and have never looked back. My husband and I have six children and eleven grandchildren together. We also have two fur babies; Silvie the cat and Coco the dog

Upon our move here to Florida, I had obtained a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and had begun working on my master’s in Library Science. I had 12 more classes to take and on December 15, 2023, I received my master’s in Library Science with a concentration in Information Specialty. I currently work at Jacksonville University Swisher Library, where I am the Access Resource Coordinator. I am the person responsible for submitting Interlibrary Loan requests to other lenders in hopes to find resource materials, for patrons, that our library does not contain.

During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my youngest granddaughter, crocheting, reading and watching action movies. I also enjoy weekend rides with my husband on his motorcycle and corvette. I hope to gain more information about utilizing digital media personally and professionally. I have already learned something new with this assignment using this media format. I look forward to learning more about this and other types of digital media.
Hi Sharon! Your fur babies are adorable. Welcome to Florida! I was born, raised, and still live just outside Gainesville, FL. I’ve always thought that one day I’d like to live in a place that really encompasses all four seasons. Perhaps farther up north, but not quite somewhere that has -30 degree weather, but I do have an aunt that lives in Indiana, and that’s where my mother is from. One of the careers I’m looking into after completing my degree is that of an Academic Librarian. I currently work at a college, though not in the library. Weekend rides on a motorcycle sound exhilarating. I always envisioned driving down the beach in a Jeep with the top down. It’s lovely to meet you!
Hey Sharon! Just wanted to say that Silvie and Coco are so cute! I would love to have a cat, but my allergies would not be happy with me… nor would my dogs. I don’t think I could ever handle -30-degree weather AND snow. It dropped down to 25 degrees here in Pensacola just a couple of days ago, and that was more than enough for me. I commend you on being the ILL person in your library. I know that is a very tedious job, and it is not easy. But so cool to outsource very unique materials. Also, congratulations on accomplishing so much in just five years!
Hey Sharon! First of all, I am jealous of you having such an agreeable husband to move you out of -30 degree weather. Mine won’t budge from Ohio, so I am currently dealing with -30 degree weather! I love that even your fur babies look comfortable and warm. You also have the coolest hobbies. My daughter has been trying to talk me into buying her crochet things but I’m not interested in funding anything else for her to put aside in 2 months.
Congrats on your recent Master’s Degree! I hope you get all you want out of the class!
Dear Sharon,
it’s a pleasure to meet you! Your journey from Indiana to Florida, leaving behind the intense cold for a new life, is quite inspiring.
Your dedication to your family, including six children and eleven grandchildren, paints a picture of a warm and caring individual. We have a boy (6 years old) and we feel that there is no time for anything, so I really admire you for having such a big family and it looks like you are there for everyone and for Silvie and Coco!
Your academic pursuit in Library Science, coupled with your role at Jacksonville University Swisher Library, highlights your commitment to education and resource management.
We have kind of the same background as I used to teach music in an elementary school and after I moved from NYC (not like Indiana weather but very cold winter too!) I started working in a public library as a circulation supervisor.
I will say it again that it’s very impressive how you balance a busy professional life with personal interests like spending time with your granddaughter, crocheting, and enjoying action movies. Your enthusiasm for motorcycle and Corvette rides reflects a zest for life.
Your interest in expanding your knowledge of digital media is exciting.
The combination of your experience in elementary education and library science will surely offer a unique perspective in understanding and utilizing digital media both personally and professionally. I look forward to learning alongside you and exploring new facets of digital media.
