For my podcast intro I used three of the sound categories: Voice, Ambient Sounds, and Music.
Voice
For the Voice, I recorded myself saying the intro blurb. I put on my best “NPR”-esque voice to try and sound soothing and educational. The target audience is an older audience of bird watchers or bird enthusiasts.
Ambient Sounds
The Ambient Sound is the recording of a backyard with birds chirping and wind chimes. This was a soothing and topic relevant ambient sound that adds to the relaxing feel I was going for.
Music
The Music I went with is a catchy, but still soothing guitar riff. It pulls the listener in at the beginning and sets the tone for the intro.

Hello Julia,
You did a great job with the ambient sounds of the birds in the background paired with the music. Those two paired with your voice were a rather soothing feeling and set a soothing mood for the podcast. If I wanted a relaxing podcast to listen to, this would be the one to listen to. I don’t think I would change anything and your image goes rather well with the podcast as well.
Hi Julia,
The overall tone and mood of your podcast is very calming. You are providing educational information in a very calm manner. Your sound effects matched the podcast perfectly. The birds chirping in the background really set the tone and the background music was soothing and not distracting.
I have never had a particular interest in birds, but your podcast introduction did make me want to hear more about birds. I know that there are a lot of people who love animals who would love to listen to a podcast to learn more about birds. I think having special guests on your podcast may add even more helpful information to an episode.
Overall, I think the recording sounded great. You mentioned that you tried to mimic an “NPR”-esque voice and I think you nailed it. While this can be soothing and sounds very professional, I fear that it may make your topics less interesting for some listeners. I think it is very important that you also add some excitement and variety into your tone to keep listeners attention.
