The Gamer’s Paradise Podcast is a podcast dedicated to those who enjoy the ever popular hobby of gaming on any platform. The podcast discusses a wide range of topics including, new and retro video games, gaming consoles, along with PC games and hardware. These discusses will at times have special guests and a regular cast of other presenters to give varying points of view based on the topics at hand.
The sound elements used in the podcast intro included a few different sound pieces from artists to best covey the scene setup for the listener. to do this, I wanted to create a nostalgic retro game feel to the audio so there were several 8bit style audio tones used. The first sound effect used is a similar sound to a count down of a retro racing game beginning and hence starting the podcast.the next audio element heard is the general background music of the intro to the podcast. This is given a faded in volume level and then fading back to a lower level once the spoken word element is introduced. Additionally, there is a lower tone 8bit element music added just after the general tone music to add a bit more flare to the audio experience. And finally, the spoken word gives the listener the introduction to the topic that will be discussed in the episodes podcast.

James,
I loved your intro music and the topic of your podcast. As an avid gamer, and someone who loves playing older games, I definitely got the sense that your podcast was a throwback to some of the Nintendo and early games of the 90’s! Good times. Your audio helped to cultivate a sense of nostalgia, and there was a nice contrast between the music, the sound effects, and your voice. You did well in the sound mixing, as each element of your podcast was at the right volume to flow well together. I don’t have too much to suggest for improvement– maybe that your voice did seem to crackle in some spots. Otherwise, very well done.
Hi James,
My first thought was that we chose a similar subject for our podcast ha!
I think the tone you were going for was informative and almost news-like, and the cadence of your voice matched that tone rather well. I really enjoyed your fade out and fade in of your audio with your theme song; it was very natural.
I think this could be a good podcast to market to people wanting the latest news in a bite-sized package. I see you mention having guests on as part of your description, and that seems like the best way a podcast of this genre can portray itself as having actual knowledge of the subject beyond opinion.
My only complaint is that the audio on your microphone was a little fuzzy and quiet, and when compared to the theme song, it was rather noticeable.
