I think the post clearly represents the need to be recognized as humans by making a reference to a modern example where someone clearly was not. By making a reference to George Floyd, a relatively recent and impactful event to this nation, it was sure to arise emotions in the viewer. I know I certainly had emotion being reminded of such a horrible events and the similar events that have since followed. I thought it was interesting that the person holding the sign in the image was white, considering the George Floyd incident helped start the Black Lives Matter movement. But in some way it better helps support the article, showing that it is not about race but about being human.
You chose a dynamic and impactful image to depict your chosen article. I appreciate the color choice of your typography. It successfully pulls from the image you chose, referencing the warm tones in the sign and cast of the sun. The slight italicization of the smaller font successfully creates contrast and emphasis. I also think it was a great choice to add the transparent rectangle behind the text. Without it, it would be hard to read the typography over the busy textured background of the building. My eyes are drawn to the person holding the sign and I think this is due to the rule of thirds. They are placed slightly off center, creating a dynamic composition.
