The movement of the sea is unpredictable and can be calm and serene. This photo paired with this audio presents a sense of peace and tranquility that can sometimes be the deep blue world. Viewing this image with the paired sound, one can imagine the jellyfish floating up, down, and sideways in its mercurial buoyancy. Together they represent life both literally and figuratively, in the way that life often is rather unpredictable. Jellyfish seem to have it figured out by working within the currents and going with the flow in grace.
LaSandra, I can tell you one of the most mesmerizing parts of the National Aquarium in Baltimore are the jellyfish. From being a volunteer behind the scenes, this never failed to be one of a few exhibits that began to slow you down from the fast pace outside of the aquarium, and then you could move on to enjoy the rest of the aquarium without being in a rush 🙂 Your image easily sends a sense of calm and ease. Also, separately, the movie Seven Pounds immediately came to mind. Despite all these connections the movement that is sensed of up and down, combined with the vivid colors draw you in as soon as you see the image. The audio you picked worked effortlessly to support the motion we can image seeing in the image. The pace is perfect, the momentum reinforced by the music score were made for each other it seems, and allows for pauses in movement and thought. Well done on all accounts for choosing two very natural-feeling pieces! My one suggestion would be try to also provide a link to the creator of this piece, Pipe Choir Records (https://soundcloud.com/pipe-choir-2) if it differentiates from the link to the original score.
Thank you so much for your appreciation! I did link the creator as you suggested, however, I noticed when I viewed the post from a mobile device the underline indicating that the text is hyperlinked wasn’t there. Yet, when I tapped it despite the text not indicating that it was linked, I was directed to the linked page. May I ask, did you view the post from a mobile device? Thanks again for sharing!
Hello LeSandra, it’s great to meet you. I for one, am a huge fan of aquatic life. I personally own a tropical fish thank but have experience with salt water habitats as well. My family travels to aquariums as much as possible. The image of the jellyfish coupled with the audio creates a dream-like state for me. I can only imagine what it’s like to be able to float aimlessly throughout the ocean. The effects, reverb, delay, and possibly others, accentuate the expansiveness and overall tranquility that one associates with the ocean. I feel that the space between the notes replicates how sound travels through water. I reminds me of the echolocation techniques of dolphins and how the sound eventually fades off in to the distance. The music is allows the listener’s thoughts to wander as well, much like the jellyfish are doing in the image. Overall, the audio reinforces the image’s depiction of jellyfish and gives the viewer a more accurate representation of their surroundings.
Thank you, Ross. You may find this a little funny, but I was having a really rough day and trouble uploading the audio. I was pretty stressed, lol. I guess my subconscious desire for peace and calm manifested the piece. Thanks for enjoying it! 🙂
