It’s the time of the year that everyone freaks out about– that’s right Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. I chose the image above because I love pop art! It’s always interesting to see how modern art remixes a well- known symbol and turns it into a pop- art icon that we all can appreciate.
So back to the elephant in the room. Valentine’s Day. Is it a holiday simply created to make us buy more chocolate? Or to show those around us that we care? I would argue a little bit of both. Jane Austen reminds us that ” there are as many forms of love as there are moments in time.” I couldn’t agree more. Friends, co-workers, parents, partners, we all share a little bit of ourselves throughout the years, which is far more important than any holiday.
I chose the track “Life is but a dream” to remind us that the time that we have on this earth is limited, and to reevaluate how we define love.

Danielle, I’d never think to pair pop art with an afrobeats song but I love this combination. I’ve always considered pop art to be a “serious” art form; it was never tranquil but more so displaying a lot of serious and intense emotion. This song alone gives more peaceful energy so pairing it with this image seemed to transform the meaning for me. I feel like pairing this with an R&B song would be too cliche but it could part interestingly with a rap song.
Hi Danielle! Wow! Your audio choice definitely surprised me and if I can guess that was your goal, you definitely achieved it. When looking at the image, I was thinking more of a slow pop or R&B song so when I listened to your audio, I was oh okay! I like this! I also love the photo you chose, I always liked how bright Pop Art was, it is an art that 9 times out of 10 will put you in a good mood. It reminded me of my Lisa Frank Days. lol. So great combo of the image and audio, it definitely brighten my mood and made me view the image in a new way and to think of new audio choices when I encounter photos I automatically assume would fit a certain song. I defintiely think that lesson will help me as the class goes forward. So thank you! Great post!
