The photo by flickr user budak reminded me of a time in my youth where I began to learn about all the different types of animals and plants that lived around the world from the Discovery Channel. This particular image of the Four-lined tree frog seemed particularly enticing due to its vivid detail and the photographer’s point of view toward it. After adding the music created by Leo Granqvist (sector9000), I believe that it enhanced the photo by helping it to seem much more than a picture but to also place the viewer in the presence of the frog and its environment.
Hi James!
I like your photo a lot. I was a huge fan of Animal Planet back in the day, and I was always pouring over any Zoobooks I could find at the library. The music in Zoobook and Animal Planet commercials were sort of zany and intense, so I was pleasantly surprised to hear Night in the Rain Forest. It really does sound like a rain forest personified! It also has a sort of eerie feeling to it, which adds a layer of depth to the image. Maybe the frog just narrowly avoided becoming something’s dinner. Or maybe it’s about to snap up a juicy caterpillar!
All in all, nice job!
Hi! I totally responded to the wrong post of yours. Monday is as Monday does. The Discovery Channel used to have so many cool programs on it, and I remember turning to its channel as a kid and always finding something interesting (when it wasn’t a commercial). The combination of the tree frog paired with the almost surreal sounding song you’ve included really captures how a rainforest feels to me. It taps into that sense of wonder mixed with mystery and adventure that a rainforest holds with it. That frog’s calm look adds another layer to the wonder as well; who knows what that little creature is thinking. Great job!
