Butters and me, Crescent Beach, FL, 2021

Hello everyone, my name is Ross Treloar and I live in Gainesville, FL. I have a beautiful wife and darling four year old daughter. We try to spend as much time together as possible. Some of our favorite activities include going to the beach, experimenting in the kitchen, and traveling to nearby museums. At times work and school can be quite chaotic, so the time that I spend with my family is often spent relaxing and having as much fun as possible. We have two goldendoodles, two year old Butters Benjamin and one year old Walter Wilhelm. They both share the same mother, and are truly best bros. We also, have an 11 year old tuxedo cat, named Rupert Gilbert who despises his younger siblings. Oh, and a fish tank with an assortment of Rainbows, Tiger Barbs, Albino Corys and a Pelco. In my free time I enjoy playing the guitar and attending local and nationwide music venues, and trying out new recipes/techniques with my BBQ smoker.

I am currently employed by the University of Florida’s Public Health and Health Profession’s IT Department as an IT Professional. I have roughly six years of experience in IT and have loved every moment of it. Well, almost every moment. I am tasked with managing all of our devices (MECM and Jamf), application and patch management, OS deployment, as well as our print server and general helpdesk issues. Prior to IT, I cooked in professional kitchens located throughout North Central Florida. I look forward to using newly acquired skillsets from this class in my day to day activities at work. You’d be surprised how often photo, audio, video editing related issues arise at my job.

This is my last semester in the MSIT program, and although I have enjoyed the experience immensely, I’ll definitely enjoy the added free time. I received a bachelors degree from the University of Florida’s College of Fine Arts, with a concentration in drawing. I felt that I needed an IT related degree, hence why I’m here. At the beginning of my career, I received CompTIA A+ and Network+ which helped me transition out of the restaurant business into something more family friendly. From fine arts to cooking to IT, it has been quite a ride, but more often than not, I am able to find serenity and the continuing fascination with the world around me. Mandatory pet photos are below.
