My name is Taylor Wilson, and I live in Houston, Texas. I am a new mom to a beautiful, 3-month-old daughter and currently spend most of my time changing diapers, making cooing noises, and looking at black and white contrast photos for babies. In my free time, I like to walk Memorial Park, practice online yoga with my friend and mentor, Hailley Rose, and read/review books on my Bookstagram (@PricklyPearPicks).
For the last decade, I have partnered with the education system as a classroom teacher, volleyball/track coach, and instructional specialist. However, as I transitioned into motherhood in October, I decided to take a step back from my career in order to devote some of that time to finishing my graduate degree. I am pursuing a Masters of Information Science with certificates in School Librarian Leadership and Youth Services. I’m excited to learn about new creative outlets in this class, and I look forward to adding more skills to my tech toolbox.
Hey, Taylor, it’s nice to meet you! Congrats on becoming a new parent! What grade(s) did you teach and coach before you refocused on your own education and family? When you finish with your degree and head back into the education system, do you think you want to stick with the same ages?
I briefly took a peak at your bookstagram page (love the alliteration, btw!) and am really impressed with how many books you read last year! I’ve been challenging myself to read more, so it’s inspiring to see all that you’ve been able to read. 93 books is no joke! I’m proud of myself for getting to 30 books last year 😊
Hello Taylor! Congratulations on becoming a parent. I know it’s not easy, I have a four year old daughter. It honestly seems like a lifetime since she was born, so much has changed. I commend you for getting a degree with a 3 month old.
Although I do not participate in yoga, I feel like I have a connection to it. My wife teaches yoga more so as a hobby than a professions. She really enjoys it, and gets free memberships as perk. One of these days I’m sure I’ll take a class. Yoga with a toddler is where the fun’s at. Have you ever tried hot yoga? If you’re ever in Gainesville, let me know, and I’ll hook you up with free yoga classes!
I wish you the best of luck with your baby, as well as in your journey through this course. It seems like it’s going to be a great class.
