What Makes A Champion is a biweekly podcast in which I interview soccer coaches and players about what makes a championship team successful. Tune in as I go beyond the soccer field to try to understand all the work it takes to hold that championship trophy. This episode features soccer star Jody Brown from Jamaica, who already has a championship under her belt at the age of 19.
This podcast makes use of the sound of ambient sounds, music, and voices. I chose the crowd cheering and a sports commentator to get the audience excited and engaged. I then added in music that was soft but still engaging while fading out the crowd cheering. Then, I quieted the music when I started my narration.

What’s working:
a. Very energetic introduction
b. Very clear body
c. The background mixes well with voice throughout most of the piece
d. Very intriguing topic. This is something that I believe would be popular with many people.
What could use some work:
a. Despite being energetic, there’s a bit of noise at the beginning, which I think could easily be repaired with some missing in your audio editor.
Overall, a bang up job!
The mood of the podcast was upbeat and positive. It did sound more like a tv recording than a podcast at the beginning. If you had tried different voices mixed together or added some music over it, I think that would’ve helped. I think it was a great idea for a podcast to talk with players and coaches, definitely for fans who already know about the sport. The narration seemed a little monotone, but it was nice and clear.
