“Local Legend” would be a podcast that is a mixture of true crime, history, and culture all set to the backdrop of geography. This could feature Civil War-era haunted houses in Charleston, South Carolina or a bank heist in Lincoln, Nebraska in the 1940s. We could cover everything from unsolved mysteries to famous residents and everything in between. I’d image that this could be a podcast enjoyed on a road trip or by locals of a particular city who want to get a kick out of their city being mentioned in an in-depth podcast.
In this audio I’ve used a combination of sounds of people talking that has been blurred together to create an ambient noise, music, and my voice-over introducing the podcast.
Hi Elizabeth!
Love the idea of the podcast; a catch-all category for all the interesting bits and pieces of history in a region is sure to hit a wide audience, especially historians and researchers. The opening chatter and music work well to create an atmosphere similar to a small town diner, and really sells the aesthetic of local lore. I also like the image you used and how you used one of the primary colors of the image for the title. It helps it stand out, but also not detract from the image. Also, great job using the rule of thirds on the man in the bottom right. For the overall podcast, the only critique I have, small as it may be, is the rapid narrative. It sort of detracts from the slow, rural feeling that the other sounds provide for this podcast. Otherwise, great work!
Hi Elizabeth, love this podcast idea! I would totally listen to this podcast if it were real. Local Legends are so interesting, and so fun to learn about. I like the way you cut the vocals over the music, to give it a real “introey” feel. I also love the image you chose for your cover art, it really made me think about local legends of various places, and old time stories. I think my only complaint would be that your title doesn’t have a very high color contrast to the background image, so from an accessibility standpoint it may not be very accessible for people with vision difficulties. Otherwise great job!
