The calmness during the destruction and fighting for freedom can be seen in the marketplace, where people can gather and continue to uplift each other. Looking through the many vendors and their differing trades, you can see the people conversing and catching up on any news or gossip while bartering and selling or buying. This idyll is a relief for the many that live in bombed houses and areas, allowing Palestinians to remember the normalcy inside the insanity.
I was interested in this photo since it reminded me so much of the marketplaces that I have visited in Honduras. Sometimes, I forget that certain places can have the same feelings and emotions in any part of the world.
Hi Delia, I love the frame in frame arches and the dramatic contrast of the black and white photo you chose. The sound file also heightened the emotional tension for me; probably because I do not like crowds or noisy places!
Hi Delia!
I was pulled into this image before I even knew I was assigned to your feedback group. I have been drawn into books lately centered around people living or have lived in the middle east. The white and black image allows me to really focus on the brokenness around the people. The audio added to the image shifts the thoughts to people’s determination to carry on. It could have been a different reaction had the audio been of shrieks or cries. I really enjoy the two together.
