I searched the Creative Commons site for images of “Japan” because it is my favorite country and many images from there are my favorites. I saw a lot of interesting images with stories to be told, but this was the most beautiful. It’s just so amazing in a sort of grand, otherworldly way. Then I searched CCmixture for some music. Initially I searched for “japan” again, to get a feel for what was out there but none of it felt quite right. Then I refined my search to “koto” because I knew I wanted some traditional instrumentation to go with the very traditional image. But I also wanted something with a more modern feel to enhance the experience of the image. I listened to a number of audio-files, several by this same user, but this was the one that spoke to me the most. I think that the dreamy meditative quality of the music fits well with the dreamy feeling of the image. But the addition of a glockenspiel adds a bit of a twist to the image, suggesting a more international flavor to a thoroughly Japanese image.
Kestrel, I love your image! My dream is to visit Japan; it is such a beautiful country! The image and sound combine make and feel like a dreamy, peaceful combination. I had to google a glockenspiel, which reminded me of a xylophone. The image is light, and the sound adds to the photo in a Japanese setting adding mediation melodies and adding that fantasy feeling. It definitely creates the effect you’re portrayed in your blog. For me, your project adds the feeling when I meditate, and you hit that moment of such complete serenity and peace. Excellent job!
Hi Kestrel! I love the theme of your blog. I have never been to Japan before but I would love to visit one day. Their technology is so advanced and their food looks delicious. The American version of the food is delicious but I would love to eat the authentic version. What’s your favorite Japanese dish? This picture with the mountain in the back is beautiful and brings me peace when looking at it. I feel as if I went there all of my problems would go away. The song you choose matches perfectly with the vibe of the picture. The music is very soothing and is something I would play during meditation. I did not know what a koto was so you taught me something new. Wonderful post!
