For me, there are only a few things more beautiful than mountain scenery. It also represents a challenge to overcome with the reward waiting for you at the peak. The peak may be in the distance, but you can still enjoy the view along the way. The “on top of the world” high is not because one is looking down at the rest of the world, but from the achievements along the way and completing your ultimate challenge.
The image Mountains by oatsy40 embraces this concept. It shows the beauty all around but also keeps the center focus on the peak ahead. Pairing this image with a crackling fire by Pater Marek reminds us of the need to sometimes rest and enjoy the small things in life along the way. It also reminds us of the necessity of fire in this extreme cold environment.
When I look at your mountain range it brings to mind views we saw in Alaska and I hear and feel the cold wind around me. Your audio brings to mind sitting in our family room and being warm and cozy. When you combine the image and audio it does bring to mind having a warm fire in the hearth and a mountain view out the window. I like your interpretation of enjoying the journey and enjoying the small things along the way. I do think your audio transformed your picture and like I said above, made me think of sitting by a fire enjoying a mountain view from my window. Very cozy! Another audio clip that would give an unexpected meaning to the picture would be something like the music from Rocky. It would bring to mind the “challenge to be overcome” that you mentioned in your blog. I think you did a nice job on this assignment!!
Your image brought back memories of my trip to Colorado to visit my daughter this past Spring. It was cold. It was beautiful. It was scary.
When I first played your audio without reading the caption, I thought that it was someone typing on a keyboard. I finished reading your post and then heard the fire crackle. It brought me back to the many adventures that I have sent my kids upon, many of which have been through Scouting. While I may be too afraid to have adventures like this, knowing the satisfaction of achieving a goal and then “sitting in front of the fire” has been life-changing for them.
Thank you!
