Hello! My name is Cynthia Bermeo; nice to meet you! I currently live in Orlando, FL. I am currently in my MSI program, planning to finish by the end of this year; I started my program in the Summer of 2020, in the chaos of the pandemic. I started my program first to become an academic librarian, but I have recently shifted and developed a considerable interest in digital media, tech, and metadata.
I am currently working remotely as an Administrative Assistant for the University of Florida in the College of Pharmacy and a Library Assistant for Valencia College Libraries. My jobs are on two different spectrums, but I enjoy all the cool projects I get to work on within the various universities/colleges.
My interests/hobbies when I am not working either jobs or on my program involve spending time with my family/friends. I love watching movies/shows, especially with family/friends. I enjoy playing with my three dogs: Rocky, Roxxy, and Max (also tend to be the most playful and loud coworkers ever). I have a passion for shopping; discovering sales/ reduced prices is a game. I miss traveling; I have not traveled as often as I liked due to the pandemic, but hopefully, I would love to travel again yearly when things are safer. Lastly, I love going to Univeral Studios and Island of Adventures with my boyfriend, we just invested in a pass, and honestly, best purchase ever! I am genuinely a homebody at the end of the day and love spending time with family.
I am very excited about this class! I hope to learn more about planning, designing, and working on creative digital projects. In addition, I want to gain more knowledge surrounding HTML, fair use/copyright laws, and more!
Hi Cynthia, nice to meet you! We will both be completing the MSI program at the end of this year, but I started Spring of 2018. I have been adjusting my course load based on my what is going on in my work life with Brevard County Public Libraries, but now that I am nearing the end, I am determined to get it done this year! Do you work remotely with both of your jobs? Were they structured that way from the beginning, or did they change to remote work because of COVID? Your dogs are adorable! What breeds are they?
Hey Cynthia, great to meet you. I live just outside of Orlando, so it’s nice to know someone in the area taking the class. I LOVE your dogs, they are absolutely adorable. Hopefully they are surviving this cold weather. My cats are indoor kitties and they are not happy with the cold. I started the MIT program during the Fall of 2020, so talk about a pandemic education. I didn’t realize that UF had a college of pharmacy down in Orlando. Have you been working remotely since the pandemic? Do you have any experience with digital media before? I know a lot of people now use canva in their jobs, to make their work slightly more attractive, have you done that?
