For this assignment, I knew right away that I wanted to create my post based on my current passions and hobbies. Over the past few months now, I’ve been researching on crystals and their healing frequencies, and combining this knowledge with my yoga. The photo above showcases the lattice of Amethyst, which I believe beautifully exemplifies the crystal’s structure and the strength it provides to those who hold it Amethyst is for its ability to boost the immune system, reduce physical aches, alleviate mental fatigue, and encourage clear thinking.
The audio attached is a frequency like melody that most would use to silence unwanted thoughts. The “Hillsound” audio is very similar to listening to sound baths, which help release blockages in your desires, emotions, and brain functions. This practice is also known as meditating on your crown chakra, which is the energy center located at the top of your head. The crown chakra is associated with higher consciousnesses, spiritual connection, and enlightenment. By focusing on this chakra, you can enhance your energy systems and promote your overall well-being. Like all matter, crystal have energy, and Amethyst, in particular, possesses healing energies and frequencies that users can harness to enhance their way of living. The photo included demonstrates the almost aura-like quality of Amethyst, highlighting the kind of healing light it promotes. This is why I chose the photo, it represents the healing elements that it provides any individual who owns it and I find that fascinating.

Hello Jaleen, it’s nice to e-meet you! I love that you used your passion for crystals and their healing prophecies for your blog post this week. What got you into learning more about crystals? The image you chose is a beautiful close-up shot of the purples and blues in Amethyst, which makes it so very popular! I believe that I would have also chosen an audio for the Amethyst that was very calming and dreamy. The “Hillsound” music that you used is very similar, very mellow and soothing! With only the music that you chose, I think my mind would have gravitated me to an image of a meditation setup (similar to an altar with crystals, books, rosaries, etc.) or I might have let the title “Hillsound” influence me to choose an image of green rolling hills. I think the Amethyst crystal was a much better choice! 🙂
Hi Jaleen,
I am unfamiliar with crystals and healing frequencies, so I found your post very interesting. The amethyst you chose to share is beautiful and the sound file you embedded adds to the experience of the image, invoking a harmonious aural experience. The image you chose to embed isn’t visible on my screen all at once, so my experience is not as immersive as it could have been (I have a 13-inch laptop screen, very petite). I also feel that the audio and image combination would have been more effective if the audio automatically played upon viewing the post (I had to click the play button to hear it). The captions you used for the image and audio effectively attribute the media to the creator and present the information in a way that doesn’t interfere with the flow of the text you have written. Nicely done. 😊
Hi Jaleen! This image/sound combination really gives an otherworldly and mystical vibe. It is almost as though I am being put into another world. The image by itself can be mainly informative, showing a really zoomed in picture of cobalt crystals. The sound gives a resonance that isn’t quite music but style has a resonance. When put together with the image, the sound gives the crystals a power and mystical property to it. It alters the informative nature of the base image to something more.
A suggestion for altering the audio and meaning of the image is perhaps add the ambient sound of a cave, the dripping of water, perhaps an echo of some sort. Basically the sounds that would be found with the crystal. Another route would be mining equipment excavating the crystal and giving it a manufactured quality perhaps. That said the quality you went for is fantastic and I enjoy the vibe it gives!
