Hello Jaleen!
In watching your video I really liked the the slow soothing vibe of the music gave off, but when added to the images you selected and with the lyrics, it started to convey a feeling of nostalgic remorse as the character remembered a past relationship and how it ended in a break up.
I will admit that it took me a hot second to figure out the plot of the story in the beginning- I could tell it was about a couple and they were fighting. But once the lyrics kicked in everything fell into place and I could understand the story taking place. I understand after watching it a couple times that it is about your character trying to move on from a past relationship and “find her light”. My biggest critique would be to possibly balance out the time spent telling about your character’s back story with their road to recovery. About 40 seconds of the story is spent telling the back story and about the pain it incurred, and only roughly 26 seconds about their recovery, which I think you were intending to be the focus of your video- given the title. It made it feel kind of rushed in the end.
Hello Joleen,
I felt so many relaxing vibes from this, definitely a lighter tone from this. But it also shows a story with 3 beats, the first feels like there is a status quo and things are nice. But the second beat is a low point with arguments and depression being shown in the feeling. But the final beat gives a sense of growth and development. It is very nice.
I definitely feel the video and image take center stage and the audio almost feels background. I am very much looking for the video to get the meaning for the piece. The audio is very nice and calming but its hard to get meaning from it alone. It should be noted I am really bad at listening and understanding music lyrics by sound.
With that in mind it may not be the best judge of something being in rhythm or not. I did find some of the cuts and loops of the video jarring with it trying to keep in rhythm and timing I think. I imagine that is a technical hurdle that you had to leap in order to ensure that the next image or video came up at just the right time.
Overall this was really really good, and it was a nice piece.
Oh no I accidentally put Joleen and not Jaleen sorry!
Hi Jaleen,
I am guessing that your theme or story is about a woman trying to figure out who she is but also finding her spark after a breakup. Great song choice as well. It helped to convey the different emotions and the tone of the story. The images helped to bring it all together. Your editing was smooth and very on point. I love how you also included a video in your video as well that was a great choice as it helped with the transition in mood and emotions. I can tell that you struggled with your rolling credits, I also struggled with mine as well, but we are still learning. Overall, your video was amazing.
Great job, Jaleen!
