Many fans and or listeners of Jazz Music don’t know the behind-the-scenes mechanics. It’s crucial for the drummer to keep proper time for the entire ensemble to stay on tempo. This is done by using the snare drum pictured above. You hear in the audio file the snare drum being stroked on the 2 & 4 when counting. I’m a percussionist and I love live music, this interest drew me to the audio and image selection. The meaning is enhanced by combing my two selections.

I have always loved music but the one instrument that has always given me trouble is drums! I so admire people who can be so creative yet so precise with playing a drum. Do you play the drums or another instrument? I think the pairing makes sense especially since you pulled out the idea of something to listen for with the 2 & 4 comment. It might even be an interesting thought though to pair this picture with music that is melancholier. That could be an interesting juxtaposition because this picture could almost seem sad in a way, since an instrument is meant to be played and this one is without its player and hence not being used for its purpose. Just a thought! Loved your selections!

I have always amazed how drummers keep their timing relative to the rest of a band. I am a novice guitar player and I usually had a metronome handy with me when I started. I like the mix of piano and saxophone in this audio which goes well with the drum in hip hop beat. I also like how you hyperlinked the flickr post and the author’s profile page to differentiate the two.
What I wonder is are there no license details of the audio provided in Bensound? Or is a license not required for royalty free assets? Overall I loved your idea and your choice of image and audio.
