Dear Reader,
Hi! I’m Erin Crawford and I am from Middleburg, Florida. I am currently 26, but will turn 27 at the end of the semester. I’m an MSI student here at FSU and will graduate in May with my degree and a graduate certificate in School Librarian Leadership.

Dead Poets Society

Now, what else could you want to know about me?
Well, I am a single mom and my three-year-old is one of the coolest humans I’ve ever met, although I guess I am a bit biased. I’m in my first-year as the Media Specialist at Lake Asbury Junior High and I teach TV production to 7th and 8th graders. Additionally, I am a worship leader at HighPoint Community Church. I am also a newly-discovered ISFJ, after years of being an INFP. I love to read, hike, cook, bake, and explore new hobbies. I love Dead Poets Society, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, tattoos, piercings, iced coffee/espresso, and many more things. I wholeheartedly believe I’m a smorgasbord of all these hobbies, interests, and talents, and I am always looking for new things to add to my repertoire.

My daughter and I just moved into our new home, so I am juggling work, school, motherhood, and unpacking all at once. I am looking forward to this semester, and everything I will learn from this course. I hope that the tools I learn in this class will help me become a better teacher of Media for my students, as this is my wheelhouse.
Looking forward to working with all of you. Best of luck, and thank you for reading!
-Erin
Hi Erin,
Thanks so much for sharing about yourself! Your daughter is adorable and I bet she is so proud of all that you are juggling right now even if she may be too little to understand it all. We have quite a bit in common. I too will be 27 this year, love coffee, Harry Potter, tattoos, and piercings. I have 7 tattoos and about 5 piercings and I am always ready for another one!
I just recently got into reading outside of being required to in school. I’ve always done audio books since my commute into the office 2 days a week is an hour each way. I love authors like Emily Henry and Colleen Hoover. Would love to know if you have any recommendations for books I should read. Do you prefer reading on a Kindle or paperback?
Hi Ciara,
Thank you for the kind words! I definitely don’t think she understands all of it, but I know she does understand some. I’m hoping I can continue making her proud.
You seem like a kindred spirit – I love that we enjoy so many of the same things. For books, I read a lot of middle school fiction, or attempt to, and those books are actually a lot of fun. If the writing is done well, I always recommend such books to adults. For adult books, it’s been a while since I found a really “good” one, but I absolutely adore my classics. I like sci-fi and mystery/thriller as well, and John Grisham is one of my absolute favorites. Let me know if you also have any books recommendations. I’d love to check them out!
Hi Erin,
I read that you are from Middleburg! I grew up super close to you in Fleming Island. I also went to High Point Church throughout middle and high school. As you mentioned, along with Ciara in the comments, I love coffee, tattoos, and Harry Potter. One of my tattoos is Harry Potter related that is quite unique and many people don’t realize its Harry Potter until I explain it to them. I applaud you for doing all you do as a single mom, your daughter seems to have a great role model!
Kaitlyn,
Yes – Fleming Island is so close!! Also, how cool that you attended HighPoint. I wonder if anyone you knew is still there. 🙂 I love that we all share a lot of the same hobbies and interests. Speaking of Harry Potter tattoos, I have a huge Hufflepuff/floral piece… it always takes people a while to get it. Thank you for your kind words – everything I do is for her… I want to show her it’s possible, regardless of what life throws one’s way. Have a wonderful semester!
Hi Erin!
Absolutely loved reading your intro post and learning so much about you and your beautiful family! I’m glad to see that our feedback group seems to share similar hobbies and interests! Here’s a suggestion to add to your hobbies: Hot Girl Walking. During the pandemic, I had to find ways to go outside more and get my daily dose of Vitamin D so forcing myself to go on a 30-minute walk not only helped me do that, but it helped me start to “romanticize” my life
Jo, thanks for the comment and for the recommendation. I am actually lacking in Vitamin D, so that’s perfect! I definitely need to get to a place where I romanticize my life a little more each day. I’ll be trying that out soon. Let me know if you have any other tips or recommendations – about books, walking, hobbies, etc.

Hi Erin! Just by looking at your blog post I immediately loved it. You along with some of our other classmates showed me what can be done on WordPress through your submission to Media Lab (01) Blogging. I loved that you included a quote at the beginning of the blog. Additionally, I loved the size, format, and color of the quote and how the color of the quote tied together your photos. Your hair is so beautiful and your daughter is the cutest! Overall, I thought your blog post was very aesthetically pleasing and I’ve learned a lot from you just through this assignment.
Looking at the substance of your post, I truly enjoyed reading about your life and your job as a TV Production teacher. I was in TV Production in middle school and is still one of the best and most influential classes I have ever taken. Ultimately, I think this blog post is a great depiction of who you are and it was easy and enjoyable to read.
Have a great semester!
