Hey everyone!

My name is Meagan and I will be graduating with my Master’s in Information in May! I am looking forward to taking such a fun class as one of my last ones at FSU. I am not the most creative person so I am taking this class to push myself out of my comfort zone and to learn some new creative skills.
I currently live in Roanoke, VA but was born in South Florida and lived there (The Acreage) until I was in middle school. My love for libraries started very young and I spent a lot of time volunteering at my school and public libraries. I currently work at Virginia Tech’s library and Roanoke Public Libraries as a library assistant. When I am not working, I enjoy reading, playing board games, watching sports, traveling, playing sports, hanging with friends, and playing with my pets (three cats and one dog).
One of my main hobbies is playing rugby. It all started because I was watching my partner play when suddenly they needed an extra player. I was voluntold to boot up (aka put on some cleats) and get out there and tackle the people with the ball. Did I know the rules? Not really. Did anyone care? Nope! From that day forward I went from onlooker to active participant. If anyone is interested in learning about rugby this is the video I first watched and it gives a decent overview of the sport.
Nice to meet you, Meagan.
Congratulations on your soon-to-be graduation! I am also in my last semester, and I saved this class to be one of my more ‘fun’ ones. I am the opposite of you, and love to flex my creative muscles.
I see that one of your hobbies includes playing board games. Which ones are your favorites? Are there any suggestions you could offer?
I am impressed by your ability to play rugby! I would be too scared of getting hurt. But I am sure that tackling is very therapeutic on bad days.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Meagan, it’s nice to meet you. My love for libraries also started pretty young but for different reasons. My mom was pretty strict growing up so we were pretty much limited to being outside or reading for our fun. And since I’m an indoor person, I choose the latter.
Rugby sounds terrifying but I am glad you have a hobby you love. Keep me away from anything with a ball or court because if you don’t I’ll be injured before you know it.
I hope you have a great semester!
Hi Meagan. Congrats on this being your last semester in the program. I am a MPA student taking a technology class that I know nothing about. I am not sure how much fun this is going to be for me, maybe more of a challenge.
I see several of our classmates have pets and several of my coworkers have them as well. In my younger days, I feared dogs but in the last few years, I have grown to like them. I thought about getting one but when I think about the cost it’s a hard no
I hope you have a great semester.
Rugby, thats pretty intense. I played football when I was in highschool which lacks the padding. You have to be tough to play a sport like that. Solid work. I plan to graduate in May as well, assuming everything goes as planned. Any plans to go after the PhD in IT? I think I am done for a while after this. Maybe, I’ll have some time to get into a new sport I haven’t tried or get voluntold.
