Hello, my name is Alexa Lowry I am from Pembroke Pines, Florida but I moved to Tallahassee when I started undergrad in 2016 and decided that this was my new home. This is the third degree that I have pursued at Florid State University. My first degree was a Bachelors of Science in Information Communication Technology and minor in business. When I graduated I decided that I just wasnt done yet so I got a job with the University Business Administrators as an HR and accounting apprentice and began geting my masters. My second degree I obtained in the Fall of 2022 is a MAsters of Science in Communicatins and Media Studies.

Now I am working as the Marketing Coordinator for the Information Technology Services (ITS) department at FSU and in my second semester of the Information Specialist program. In my roll with ITS I work on multiple different areas of the communications process. My main rolls involve project communicatoins, from building out marketing plans and executing them by writing, publishing, printing, sending, creating and more communications materials. The next major part of my job is that I handle our social media accounts and content. ITS has a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, and recently we created a LinkedIn.
We recently started a Podcast that I host where we talk about campus technology. I also have created other series like a “things to know” monthly video series and student spotlights. While the mian focus of my job is marketing communications I also have two interns who I supervise and some other miscellaneous projects such as making edits to our websit, running our news website, crisis communications and stepping in when needed with other projects. My recent assistance with our website redesign project is part of why I am excited about the lessons I will be learning in this class. From the content I create to my newer intrests in website design I think this class will help me learn new skills I can use in my position.
Outside of work and school I love spending time with friends, playing video games, cooking and going to the movies. I hve AMC A-list so I go to the movies every week if not more than once. I also have an obsession with candles to the point where I have a whole cabinet filled with candles for every season. There is one more thing I enjoy more than all these things though and that is my cat Olive! She was a covid kitten so we are super attatched. She is the most loving black kitty who loves people.

Hi Alexa,
I really enjoyed reading about your academic and professional journey at Florida State University (FSU) and your current role as the Marketing Coordinator for the Information Technology Services (ITS) department. It’s impressive that you pursued multiple degrees at FSU, starting with a Bachelor’s in Information Communication Technology and a minor in business, followed by a Master’s in Communications and Media Studies. Your diverse educational background in both technology and communications seems well-suited for your current position. Honestly, this is the first time I know about ITS are engaging with students through social media. I thought it was only through the ITS page on FSU website. Thank you for that. It’s great to know a bit about your personal interests as well, from spending time with friends and playing video games to your love for movies and candles. Olive, your cat, sounds absolutely adorable!
Your post reflects a strong work ethic, a passion for communication, and a willingness to continue learning and growing in your field. Keep up the excellent work, and I wish you continued success in your professional and personal endeavors.
Hey Alexa, I love your title! And might I just say WOW, one degree is a huge accomplish but two down and working on a third at Florida State is amazing. Your job as the marketing coordinator for ITS sounds fun, since you are able to work in multiple avenues such as social media, podcasts and website design. This is the perfect class for you, I hope you find much success!
I too spend a lot of time at the movies as I have a regal unlimited movie pass. I think they are such a great investment. Your cat Olive is so cute, I bet she’s the sweetest cat. I enjoyed reading you post, it flows really well. And I love how you coordinated your pictures with what you wrote in each section.
Hello Alexa! It’s impressive how you’ve built a rich academic and professional journey at FSU. Your role as a Marketing Coordinator for ITS seems multifaceted and exciting, especially with the diverse projects and platforms you handle, like the podcast and student spotlights. Also, your love for movies is awesome! Any recent favorites from your weekly AMC A-list visits?
Dear Alexa, it’s great to have you with us! You’ve really woven yourself into the fabric of FSU! Three degrees – that’s some serious commitment. Your journey from undergrad to where you are now is super impressive. And juggling a job while chasing your master’s? That takes some real drive.
I’m particularly intrigued by your role in ITS. Handling all those different communication facets must be exciting and challenging at the same time. I love the podcast idea, it sounds really cool – I’d love to check it out. And a monthly video series plus student spotlights? That’s a lot on your plate, but it sounds like you’ re that you are very capable of doing it!
Your love for movies and cooking resonates with me much– there’s nothing like a good film and a home-cooked meal to unwind…My cat, his mane is Mau, is exactly like yours, black, with the same eye color! it’s funny that I visited my vet for the annual and he was telling me that black cats are definitely smarter than any other cats, something with the chromosomes, and Olive looks adorable! I’m a bit of a cat and a dog person myself, so I totally get the bond you guys must have. So, I am really looking forward to seeing your ideas and energy in action in the class!
