Hi Everyone! My name is Marshaye and this is my second semester at Florida State University pursuing the Master of Science degree in Information Technology.
I am originally from Maryland but moved to Central Florida just a little over five years ago to start my career as a Systems Engineer in the Aerospace industry. I currently live in the Orlando area and work as a Systems Analyst with a focus in technology management and product sustainment. Prior to relocating to Florida I studied at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
In my spare time I love doing a little bit of everything! Some may say I have way too many hobbies and interests but, when you live in a place like Orlando there’s always something new to do or explore. I enjoy trying new restaurants, attending festivals, visiting museums, participating in community outreach, gardening, crafting and reading. I also spend a lot of time at the movies and at Disney World as I currently have a annual pass as well as a Regal Ultimate movie pass.
Out of all my interest and hobbies my favorite thing to do is to travel! I took an interest in traveling post undergrad. Since then I have traveled to 17 different countries and 4 continents. One of my travel goals is to visit all seven continents. While traveling I enjoy learning about different cultures, history and local agriculture.

When traveling, participating in a new activity or trying a new restaurant I often take tons of videos and pictures which has turned into over 20k pictures and videos in my camera roll. Because of this I decided to start turning the media that I was capturing in to TikTok videos. What started as a way to remember these experiences has turned into sharing my travels and experiences with others in hopes of encouraging them to try new things.
“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
~ Walt Disney
From this class I think I am most excited about expanding my knowledge of digital media in general and learning more about web based tools and resources for media production. I hope to be able to use what I learn to improve my media production skills. I am also interested in learning how these skills can be used to enhance my current and future professional roles.
Hi Marshaye,
It’s wonderful to meet you, and thank you for sharing your introduction! Your pursuit of a Master’s degree in Information Technology at Florida State University and your background as a Systems Engineer in the Aerospace industry showcase your dedication and expertise in the field. I travelled about 15 countries and the same number on continents. Your goal of visiting all seven continents is ambitious and exciting. The way you capture your travel experiences through videos and pictures and share them on TikTok is a wonderful way to not only remember your adventures but also inspire others to try new things. I like the way you placed your pictures in this post. I think you already digital media talented.
I have no doubt that your passion, drive, and diverse background will contribute significantly to the class discussions and projects. Your experiences in the Aerospace industry and your love for travel bring unique perspectives to the table.
I wish you all the best in your second semester at FSU and in your journey of continuous learning.
Good luck!
Hey Marshaye!
From your post, I can just tell you are such a fun person to be around! Your post looks amazing! The frames you used on all your photos and the layout of the post look so professional and one of the best I’ve seen so far. I can tell that you know what you are doing. When it comes to hobbies I am the same way, while anything related to art and gaming are my main focuses I feel like I am interested in and do a lot of other things also. I also totally understand having too many photos to know what to do with. I currently have almost 38,000 photos in my camera role. Hav you ever done disposable photos also? I can’t wait to see more of the work you do in this class, thanks for sharing!
Hi Marshaye! Kudos on your diverse range of hobbies – from gardening to traveling! I think traveling is the best way to spend time. Which country or continent left the most lasting impression on you during your travels? And turning your experiences into TikTok videos is a creative way to share your adventures! Looking forward to hearing more about your travels and the stories behind those 20k pictures and videos!
Hello Marshaye and welcome welcome to FSU! It’s great to see someone with such a rich background in both Electrical Engineering and IT. The Aerospace industry system engineer especially if we are talking about F-35’s it leaves me speechless (and I need my voice as i have a performance on Thursday haha) I see that in the Orlando they do a lot of research so I am sure it is very exciting! Your transition from Maryland to the vibrant life in Orlando that we talked about earlier on it must have been quite an adventure, only the weather change is enough to wake up, open the door, and smile from the early morning… It’s impressive how you’ve embraced such a variety of interests and hobbies. Your passion for travel is particularly inspiring – 17 countries is no small feat! I’m looking forward to hearing about your experiences and travel stories. Also, your venture into TikTok sounds really exciting. It’ll be great to see how your skills in digital media develop further through this course, and I’m eager to learn from your insights, especially in web-based media production. Here’s to a successful and enlightening semester!
