Hello everyone!
My name is Austin Dudley and I currently live in Pensacola, Florida. I graduated from FSU in 2014 with a B.S. in Information Technology and hope to graduate this year with my MSIT. I work for the United States Navy as an Instructor Pilot for VT-6. This is one of the first places all future Navy pilots must go through in their two year long training program. During my off time, I enjoy camping, playing video games, and occasionally competing in city tennis matches.
I am quite interested in the audio/video editing portions of the class as I did a little bit in my undergrad and remember enjoying seeing the final product after working to put everything together. I equate the feeling to completing a complex puzzle and seeing the beautiful image that seems to appear out of no where. I am hoping to refresh some of the skills that I have lost in media production, learn new tricks/techniques from others, and become more creative throughout this semester.
Hi Austin!
You seem to have a very cool job! I have some family that joined the Navy and made the same journey to California as you did. I also am a huge fan of camping and exploring outdoors, did you get a chance to visit any National Parks while you were in Cali? In terms of the class, I don’t have as much of a background in media production as it seems you do, but it sounds like this class will be interesting and challenging for all of us. Looking forward to working alongside you!
Hey Austin!
It is nice to meet another Panhandler! Pensacola is not as familiar to me as Tallahassee is, but there was a brief period in time where I was working nearby and had to attend a few training seminars for the State of Florida in that city. It is definitely a beautiful location and the beaches are absolutely gorgeous! I could only imagine what it would be like to play tennis there. Of course, with how rapidly the ball travels across the court, I doubt there is much issue with wind carry. As someone who used to play softball, that was a constant issue with playing in any field near the beach. I am also an avid video-gamer myself, so I am curious to know: What is your favorite genre(s) in particular? I tend to stick with Role-Playing and Adventure type games myself, but that may stem from my love of Pokémon.
As someone who already has an I.T. degree, I have a feeling you may have quite the head start when it comes to this class. So there is no doubt you will be able to re-harness those media production skills in no time. Like riding a bike! I look forward to what we could all learn from this class, and can’t wait to see what we all produce. It was very nice to meet you, and hope we all have a fun semester!
