Hello, my name is Brittany Geib, I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. I have worked at Orange County Public Schools for the past 10 years and have been a library media specialist for five years. Being a media specialist and working with students is truly my passion. I have a love of introducing kids to the environment, local animals, and recycling. Each year I introduce the Everglades Literacy program to my students, this program is a combination of reading, STEAM, the Florida environment, and teaching about the animals that live here. I sponsor many clubs at my school which involve my passions for the environment and reading.

Additionally, I have noticed the extreme shifts towards technology just over the past two years and that is why I decided to get my MSIT degree here at FSU. The library side is becoming all the more technical as the years go on and that is why I chose this career path. I also believe this class is going to teach me a lot about the media production side of things that I didn’t know before. I have been in charge of the newsroom at my school for many years now but I am always up to learning new tricks. I am by no means an expert and would love to take my new skills and show my teachers how easy creating and learning new tricks can be.

Hi Brittany! I loved reading your post and hearing just how passionate you are about what you do. I love your thirst to learn and grow and I am so confident it will benefit the kids you teach so much.
I would love to know what school you work at? I actually grew up in Orlando so I am very familiar with OCPS. I am sure plenty has changed since I went through school but it made me happy to read that is where you work. I went to Timber Creek High School in case you are familiar with that school.
Hello Corinna,
Thanks so much for your nice message.
I work at Sunset Park Elementary in Windermere, Florida about 10 minutes from Disney. I do know exactly where Timber Creek is, I have been there for trainings and to East River for trainings many times. I graduated from Wekiva High School.
Hi Brittany! It is so nice to meet you. I enjoyed reading your post! Corinna mentioned your passion and I also noticed that your passion for your work oozes through your words and with how active you are with what you do at work and the clubs you sponsor. Keep up the good work! And thank you for sharing the Everglades Literacy Program. I browsed the website and it looks like it has tons of amazing resources for children. I definitely will share this with my library system.
And I am also familiar with the Orlando area, like you and Corinna. I grew up in the Lake County area ( Mount Dora, Eustis, Umatilla area, are you familiar with this area?) and I used to frequent Orlando for school sports and family trips on occasion. Small world! 🙂 Again, it is nice to meet you and I am excited about this semester with you!
Hello Latasha,
So happy I could spread the word about the Literacy Program! I am very familiar with the Lake County area. My sister lives in Mount Dora and I also have family in the Altoona area. I also went to high school in Apopka. Very small world and not too far from where I live. So nice to meet you!
