Hello! I am Isaiah Chavez from Tampa, Florida. I am currently a BSIS student at USF and a MSIT student at FSU. I am also working in two different careers. I am on 102.5 The Bone hosting various weekend shows and my full-time job is with Home Shopping Network as an IT Engineer.
My hobbies are traveling, volunteering, video gaming and numismatics. Numismatics is the study of coins. I have obtained my Professional Numismatic Certificate from the American Numismatic Association in 2017. I also try to go to a different country every year.
A few of fun facts about me is that I have IMDB credits in film, I have flown a sport plane, sky diving is an amazing stress relief and I got lost in the streets of Japan in a go-kart wearing a Yoshi costume! I am looking forward to this semester in hopes to spruce up my audio and video skills. Good luck to all.
Hi, Isaiah. It is so nice to meet you! I live about 45 minutes south of you. Wow! Two different careers?! You must stay very busy between two jobs and two schools. Where have you traveled? I also enjoy traveling. I hope one day to visit Europe, especially Ireland and Sweden. Do you have a favorite place that you have visited? I have been to Canada and New Zealand which were both incredible experiences. When did you start studying coins and what made you interested in it?
I wish you the best in all your endeavors.
Hello Savanah!
Oh, thats neat that you live pretty close to me. Yes, I do like staying busy but I enjoy both careers so I don’t even consider it as a job to be honest.
I would love to fly over to Europe. That is my next trip that I am planning. I had to cancel my 1st attempt to Europe due to Covid, but I’ll try again in a bit. I would like to visit Ireland, Scotland, France and the UK.
My favorite place was Japan. I just loved the culture so much. I also enjoyed the arcades, the cool thrift shops and GIANT 7-story 100-yen stores that they had. The food was awesome superb. I would love to go back and I hope I can soon. If you’d like, you can contact me on Facebook and you can take a look at the photos of all of my crazy trips.
I got interested in coins because of the “tooth fairy”. I didn’t get easy dollar bills, I got an interesting coin. It could be an Eisenhower dollar, a Morgan dollar, even a Peace dollar. It was always something different, something unique that I would go and research it before I keep it for myself. In high school I used to walk around in flea markets a lot and I came across J & B Coins. They needed some help and I was their helper for a bit. It was fun trading and dealing coins. I have slowed down a bit for better opportunities for me but I do have coin magazines drop at my doorstep that I’ll read.
Have a good one!
Hola Isaiah! I think being part of the radio is great, I went into broadcasting when I was studying at Edinboro University and liked to do the weekend show for the campus, loved it so much. I like the idea of using voice to get across information and inform. I also like to travel and would love to visit Japan. I have visited Canada, Spain, Portugal, and a small portion of Morocco, and lived in Mexico for 6 years and loved AND love experiencing locations and experiences outside of what I know. I feel it broadens my point of view and mind for sure. I think coin collecting is interesting, I used to collect stamps when I was little, and like the fact of how you came into contact with different coins, very interesting – love it! I am thinking of attending the AASL Conference in Tampa in October of 2023, and while I love attending FSU, sometimes I wish I was IN Florida to see the campus. Great post with alot of information in a brief post, very well done!
Hello Harry! Radio can be so much fun!
Wow, what did you do in Mexico for 6 years? Sounds like an interesting life you have!
I had to research the AASL Conference, and you should come over! Tampa is a very nice place to live in.
I haven’t seen the campus either, I hope I can do the same!
I like the heading you used, as it goes with what you do for the radio station! Also, liked how the successive links took me right to the details of the employment you mentioned – well done!
