Hi, everybody! My name is Victoria, I use ey/em/eir pronouns, and I currently live in Sarasota, Florida. I am in my final semester of the MSI program, and hope to be a public librarian once I graduate. Currently, I work in a smallish public library, where I help out with youth and teen services.
The dinosaur to the left is not me, but I did take the photograph and build the cardboard arch for one of our library programs!
I haven’t done much work with media production before, but I collect historical fonts and enjoy making silly memes to put up on the library’s teen bulletin board. I hope that this class will help me get a better sense of how to approach image and video editing. I am also fascinated by intellectual property law, despite having no background in it, so I am looking forward to talking more about copyright and licensing.
I think you have picked the perfect place to place meme’s. Love the image of the dinosaur – it throws you off when you say you are NOT a dinosaur, then you see one. Love that! I HAVE noticed the more when you just jump into an editing program, and just play around with the functions, not knowing anything, with no expectations, you learn alot by trial and error, ALOT!
Victoria, I learned something new from your post, I was unaware of the ey/em/eir pronouns and enjoyed adding them to my growing inclusive vocabulary. Your choice of the dinosaur image caught my attention because the blow-up T-rex seems to show up at all kinds of places where I also find myself. I’m sure the teens at your library love your creative memes, and it’s an excellent way to connect with them. Good luck in your last semester and your pursuit of being a public librarian.
Hi Victoria! I love the dinosaur costume! I have a friend who is a school librarian and she always says that dressing up in costumes is a part of librarian life! How fun. I think this is a great way to engage your audience. Congrats on the last semester, I know getting there has been a journey. Intellectual Property law is a big area– I used to work as a legal assistant before returning to FSU for grad school and IP is definitely one of the more interesting fields right now. Do you see yourself studying more about Intellectual Property law? Maybe check out a local community college to see if they offer classes on it.
