Synopsis: A teenage girl is terrified of taking her driver’s license test and believes that failure is the end of the world. The girl flunks the test on the first maneuver and realizes that this is the worst-case scenario. She feels silly and light at the thought of how insignificant this failure is and that she can always try again.

I recorded the audio narration using the voice memo application on my iPhone. I created the title and credit cards as well as edited the audio and video using Canva.

The Book Club Podcast

My imaginary podcast series is essentially a digital book club. The idea is that each episode would discuss a different book that I have read along with the podcast listeners. The sound elements in this project include intro music, spoken word, and the sound effect of a cat meowing. The cat meowing would act as a transition sound for each audio clip in the episode.

Green-Eyed Girl

My cat is my favorite little creature ever. She is often the first person I interact with in the morning and the last one before I fall asleep. I have always loved the color green, especially a nice lime green, but when I got Luna at 13 years old, green took on a new meaning. I associate that particular shade of green with life, happiness, and head butts. For this assignment I chose this image because I thought her eyes really popped in it. I cropped the original image so that her head was lined up with the center of the left grid line according the rule of thirds. The cropped image brings more focus to her cute face and vibrant eyes, with the added bonus of cutting out the messy state of my room and that massive dust bunny.

Physically Present, Mentally Elsewhere

I chose to include an image of a dragon because this week I have been engrossed in the newest addition to the Empyrean Series written by Rebecca Yarros. This series is a romantic fantasy about dragons, wyverns, gryphons, and more magical creatures. I coupled the audio of pages turning with this image to convey the feeling of an onlooker watching me read this series. This series is intense and has its dark moments, and it’s strange to think about how the soothing the sound of turning pages is all that can be heard as I am transported into this magical realm of dragons.

Originally I thought to accompany this image with sounds of war, fire, or ‘fantasy music,’ but I think the juxtaposition of pages quietly turning is more impactful.

All About Me

Hi! My name is Grace and I live in Tallahassee, FL. I am in the Master of Science in Information Technology program. I work in the Information Technology department at Florida State University. A fun hobby that I have been getting into over the past few months is pottery! I have been taking beginner wheel classes at the union.

I am interested in learning about media production in this class. I have little to no prior experience in media production beyond directing my Tik Toks, so I hope to gain new knowledge and skills in this field.
