Hey Amal,
I really like the audio you chose overall, though the sound quality did take away from the video a bit. It’s a shame when so much effort goes into the visuals and concept, but the audio doesn’t quite match that level.
That said, I really enjoyed your use of repetition with the word “today” and how it ties into the track. Changing the color of the typeface and panning the image helped create a dynamic feel that made the video engaging to watch. The theme of motivating yourself to start now “if not now, when?” comes across clearly and makes sense as a whole.
The pacing works well with the beat, and the occasional shifts in tempo add some nice variety. I also liked the slightly more detached, objective images paired with the direct wording, they feel pointed but not too heavy-handed. Timing the word “today” to appear on certain spoken moments, especially at the end, was a strong choice that wraps the video up nicely and feels like a subtle call to action.
Overall, great job and a lot of thoughtful work here. Looking forward to seeing how your final project turns out!
Hi Amal,
I enjoyed the driving beat of your song choice, as well as the striking images. As someone who had to take “today” by the nose and decide to finally finish my degrees at an unusual time in my life, I love the message here as well: we’re not promised tomorrow, so do it today. So great! The use of zoom and pan and scan on the images kept the video dynamic, and I loved how you quickly passed through several images on the beat in the first few seconds when the music stopped and we just had the percussion. I also really enjoyed the intermittent “Today” text throughout, particularly the one that changed color on the beat about halfway through. Your timing on image changes seemed pretty spot on, too. I really enjoyed this!
